2010-2011 DIII commitment thread

Re: 2010-2011 DIII commitment thread

For PSU, lets hope that they are the "diamonds in the rough" referred to from another thread.

I just searched the programs/names of the kids:
One is from the NJ Selects "Red" Team, their top AAA team
One plays for The Lady Ducks, which is a pretty well-known AAA program
One goalie is a highly-touted player in Massachusetts (found some newspaper articles about her) and the other plays in the PWHL up in Canada
The two defensemen from CO are both on teams that are going to the District tournament in TX this weekend
One plays prep hockey at Canterbury, which made it to the NEPSAC tournament
One plays for the Assabet Red Minor U19 team

Seems like a pretty good start. In that other thread you referenced, several posters questioned whether or not PSU would be able to attract any players there and wondered why anyone would want to go there. Looks like the combination of new rink, new rink, and a new commitment to the program has made it an attractive option to players from all over the country...

Meghan Cassidy from the NJ Selects will be a good addition. She's a gritty, hard working forward who can make things happen. She's very focused and is dependable from game to game. A great kid to have on the team.

Congrats, Meghan!

Sorry for my typo - I meant to write "new rink, new COACH, ..."
It seems pretty clear that she has made great headway in terms of attracting players from all over the country to PSU. I think it's safe to say that you're not going to draw players there from California, Colorado, New Jersey and Ontario if the players don't believe in what you're selling...

Re: 2010-2011 DIII commitment thread

As I said before......I think it is a great opportunity to help rebuild...build....a program and hopefully make it into something great..looks like Coach Corson is on her way to doing that, looking at the talent she is pulling in.

Go Panthers!!!!!

Re: 2010-2011 DIII commitment thread

T. Wyatt, D, from Colorado going to PSU plays for the Colorado Select 19AA team...the 2nd tier team for the Select. She played 16AAA last year. They are in Texas at the RMD Tier II Tournament right now. She is a gritty player, good along the boards, strong kid.

Re: 2010-2011 DIII commitment thread

To Neumann:

Neumann locked up Sydni Espey, starting goalie with the Chicago Mission. They are one of the better 19U programs in the US. Should help a lot.

Re: 2010-2011 DIII commitment thread

I have heard:

To Trinity:

Kristen Maxwell........G...........(Westminster School) - Nashville TN
Abby Ostrom...........F...........(Loomis Chaffee) - Carlisle, MA

Syd has been playing well this year, her first year with Mission. Brittany Lemke's (2nd goalie at Lake Forest) younger sister Stephanie is sharing the goal duties with Sydni.
The word is goalie is not the strength of Mission U19 this particular year. "Most" Mission players go D1.

Re: 2010-2011 DIII commitment thread

Are you sure she's the starter? I don't think so.

Here are the Chicago Missions LEAGUE STATS...

She started more games in the regular season and also in the playoffs. Usually the goalie who plays more in the playoffs, is the starter.

Re: 2010-2011 DIII commitment thread

Tough to update when you are busy covering the Winter Olympics. Should be updated soon though. ;)

I noticed some time ago...perhaps through a reconfiguration, that we reverted back to March 17th on BTD D3 committment pages. At one time the March 24th update had been posted....I think?

Maybe I'm wrong? ...however if not, can we get the most recent page back up along with any updates there might have been?

Thanks!

Should be ok now.

Try refreshing your browser once the commitment page loads.

I am actually updating right now as well.
