I did enjoy the Concordia (Que) exhibition game this year, and definitely thought it did wonders for the team's confidence going into the season. I certainly hope Emery tries to bring in another CIS team this year!

Re: 2010-11 schedules

First thought: Wow, that was quick.

Second though: Lots of Friday evening games followed by Early Saturday Afternoon games.

Yeah, we've seen a lot of that at Adrian, too. The road team can get a couple hour head start on travel back home. It's not exactly a quick junket for most teams.

Re: 2010-11 schedules

You saw their 09-10 schedule, right?

Yup. I've seen plenty of seasons where Elmira had just 10 or 11 home games.

The key is balance.;)

Granted, you can't help it sometimes but still.

It must a be a long winter for Plattsburgh fans when the life blood of the city only makes 10 appearances at the Stafford:D

Exactly.

When most road trips last 3+ hours, you try to give each other a bit of a head start in heading back.

I remember Northland used to make teams stay for a 7:00 PM game on Saturday. Boy, would that suck... having to spend an entire afternoon in that town after being forced to check out of the hotel....

Well, that and if you have a 12 hour bus ride back, you're getting back home at 10 AM on Sunday morning. Not exactly recommended for getting some rest and time to study before classes resume on Monday.

Not sure how well the 3 o'clock games on Saturday are attended elsewhere, but at Adrian there is a noticeable drop from the Friday nite crowd.

How many 12 hour bus rides are there currently in the MCHA ?

Re: 2010-11 schedules

It is a long way off but the Primelink is going to have 3 of the top 5 teams from this year in the tournament. I realize the home team gets to choose but Plattsburgh/St. Johns look like a lot more winnable of a game then Norwich/Middlebury if you are a Norwich fan.

Re: 2010-11 schedules

Your lack of knowledge is sometimes appalling.

The home team doesn't choose. The tournament rules are set up for the home team in any year to always gets the outside invitee, with the other two rotational teams playing each other.

Re: 2010-11 schedules

While that is how most tournaments work, the Primelink tournament is different.

jerrynu26, I fixed your post. Thanks for that clarification.

Re: 2010-11 schedules

A few years back, Brockport started having some 4:00 Saturday conference games (A number of schools do have Saturday afternoon games for nonconference games).

At that time, the SUNYAC did consider making the Saturday afternoon conference games a permanent fixture across the board. But, they decided against it, and kept to the Friday night/Saturday night scheduling. (The basketball SUNYAC schedule always has Saturday afternoon games.)

I do think that attendance is probably better when the game is in the evening than afternoon. I also wonder how much teams didn't like the shorter rest period between games.

Remember when games used to start at 7:30? Then, various leagues started to change that to 7:00, and everyone followed.
