Hmmm.......looks like most don't like the Guardian thing. I think it's pretty cool. Weren't you all kids once? Pretty much did this for the 5-10 year old range.

You're not alone in your thinking. From Chris Stevenson in the Toronto Sun:
Ooh, true. Goaltending improvements are an obvious one I didn't think to mention.

Amusing line from a Joe Posnanski column about All-Star Games in various sports:
The NHL has pulled out the North America vs. the World gimmick, which doesn't seem to excite people nearly as much as playing games in odd places like Fenway Park (I think the NHL All-Star Game should be in some new odd place every year -- ("Hey, they're playing the All-Star game on the 14th green at Augusta! Awesome!").
If they found a way to do that, I would watch.

Meant to ask this...was it Kane who announced the final pick of Kessel? He didn't sound all that enthused...weren't there rumors that these guys didn't like each other going back to their early USA hockey days?

Maybe Kaner and Phil went out to dinner, agreed to split the check, but Phil didn't have proper change. I know that enrages me.

It is also rumored that Phil does not have Patrick's back, which actually prevented another cab driver incident.

Twitter buzzing with a rumor that the Devils are for sale. Bloomberg article as well.

The Sabres aren't
!

Buffalo Sabres owner Tom Golisano agreed to sell the franchise to Pennsylvania businessman Terry Pegula on Tuesday.

The team announced the agreement, but details were not released. Golisano and managing partner Larry Quinn have scheduled a news conference for Thursday.

The Buffalo News reported the agreement, which is subject to league approval, includes $175 million US for the Sabres and an additional $14 million in liabilities.

Pegula has an estimated worth of $3 billion and was most recently ranked 110th on Forbes magazine's list of the wealthiest Americans.

In September, he and wife Kim made the largest private gift in Penn State history, donating $88 million to fund a new multipurpose arena and help upgrade the men's hockey program. The Nittany Lions will make the move to Division I hockey in the 2012-13 season.

Pegula, 59, is a Penn State graduate and has ties to western New York. His wife is from Rochester and they've previously lived in Orchard Park, a Buffalo suburb, and Olean, a 90-minute drive south.

Congrats to Andrew Brunette on his 1,000th game! 250 goals and 438 assists for 688 points thus far.

Jordan Staal gets a match penalty for clocking Brandon Prust with the glove hand during some board work. Probably a two or three game suspension at the max.

Re: 2010-11 NHL Season part I: Blackhawks Down in Atlanta

Dive and a half by Prust who initiated the whole action throwing a forearm into Staal's head. Prust didn't miss a shift after going down like he had been shot.

This match penalty with be recinded by the league.

Nah, intent is there. Did Prust sell it? Absolutely. Prust and Staal exchanged shoves, Prust's was high but he didn't go straight for the head. The league won't rescind it.

League won't rescind it, but he plays for the Pens, so as far as Colin Campbell is concerned he "doesn't have a history". :D

The Wild finally win a shootout, and the Kings finally lose one. Backstrom's skate save on Johnson while on his stomach was ridiculous.

Re: 2010-11 NHL Season part I: Blackhawks Down in Atlanta

For a game that was mindnumbingly boring for the first two and a half periods, the ending of the kings-wild game, from about 7 left in the third on, was very exciting. And yes, Backstrom's skate save was sick.
