I love Gardy, but he has REALLY cost us today. You can't have the season on the line and let Punto bat. You can't take your second best hitter out of the game in the eighth inning, when the game clearly could go extras.

Detroit sacrificies their runner over to second (someone pinch ran for Guillen).

runner on 2nd, 1 out.

But Gardy has a mancrush on Nicky Baseball ;)

I'm not quite sure why we're pitching to Inge right now with first base open.

Inge pops out to right.

2 out, runner still on 2nd.

Come on Twins.

Whatever they're paying Punto, its too much. I would say the same thing if they paid him in free happy meals. How many times has he completely botched a bunt this year? I can recall at least three off the top of my head. Granted, like has already been said, he had no business being at the plate in the first place.

Santiago comes up to the plate. He has the Tigers only RBI so far in the game, but he gets behind 0-2.

Whew.

Span makes a running catch in right to send the game to extra innings.

He is getting paid 4 million...

Rausch gets out of the inning...Dick Bremer makes it sound like Span had to make an amazing grab to end the inning when it was rather routine.

{pokes sagard} Gordo made it sound like the ball was rocked....thank God Kubel wasn't out there. :D

At this point we might have to give up a tub of Big Leauge Chew just to get a AA team to take Punto.

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 3 - It's still not over...statistically

Span singles up the middle and the Twins have the leadoff man on in the 10th.

Polanco sucks as a 2nd baseman today by the way. That's about the third ball that has been under his glove that wound up in centerfield.

"This is the time when every pitch means something." - Jack Morris.
Sometimes he really adds to the broadcast. :D

:p:D:D

I THINK Kubel could have made the play, but I feel more confident that Span was out there.

90% of major leaguers could have...seriously Bremer has a history of this...everytime Mauer makes a routine stop on a ball in the dirt you would think Bremer just had an orgasm!
