2009 MN Twins Part 3 - It's still not over...statistically

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 3 - It's still not over...statistically

So the Twins' announcers have pounded the "Kubel has stunk up Kauffman this season" theme into the ground this weekend & it's obvious he's in a funk there. Why is he playing today? At the very least pinch hit for him in the 8th?

Delmon looked like "coach" taking one on the hip (and for the team) there! Well done. :)

Twins need 3 out of 4 from the Tigers and no less.

A split and they stay 2 games back. With the Tigers hosting the White Sox and the Twins facing Greinke again that spells the end of the race.

Thankfully the Twins have Denard Span who absolutely owns the Tigers. :D

I tend to agree. I think if we win 3 out of 4 (or all 4) we will win the division, whether it be in regulation, or I think we beat Detroit in the one game playoff.

If we split, I don't see us making up 2 games in the final three days to pull even. As you said, we face Greinke again, and even if we win the other 2 I don't see Chicago pulling off the sweep at Detroit.

It all starts tonight.

Tonight's game and tomorrow's game are scheduled to be on MLB network if you get the channel.

Nice Ernie Pantusso reference.

Just an FYI, the game is being broadcast on MLB Network right now, and I believe the game toinght will be on there as well.

Well, this is it. By the end of the day they could be leading the division. Should be interesting.

It's do or die, that's or sure. If they lose both today, they are out of it. If they win both, they are tied for the division lead.

0-0 Bottom of the 2nd

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 3 - It's still not over...statistically

A bit of bad luck for the Twins, and the Tigers take an early lead.

1-0, Bottom of the 2nd, and the Tigers have runners on 1st and 2nd. (1 out)

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 3 - It's still not over...statistically

Yikes. Detroit has their bats out today.

In the Bottom of the 3rd, Runners on 1st and 3rd with no outs. Blackburn needs to get out of this inning with allowing only one (or less).

As I type that, Huff grounds to Cuddyer and they get the out at home. Runners on 1st and 2nd with one out.

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 3 - It's still not over...statistically

Blackburn always seems to stink in Detroit.

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 3 - It's still not over...statistically

Tolbert with a double to start off the 5th, Punto bunts him over to third, and then Span sacrifice flies to center, and the Twins tie the game at 1. Very nice way to manufacture a run.

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 3 - It's still not over...statistically

Blackburn appears to have settled down somewhat retiring the Tigers 1-2-3 in each of the last 2 innings.

We go to the 7th, and the game is tied at 1. Hopefully the Twins can break through here and get a couple run lead.

Sounds like a barn burner so far. Wish I could watch and not just get updates.
