The Dome wants the Twins to win today, as it gives them an extra out and base runner.

Now Kubel can deliver.

Kubel with a flair 2 run single to give the Twins the lead 3-2! :D

A converted rookie infielder in left field loses the ball in the Metrodome in the middle of a pennant race in the 8th inning. Go figure.

Ernie Harwell gets incurable cancer yet Jim Leyland smokes enough cigarettes to keep half of North Carolina employed. Who the * is keeping score here on this planet?

Since when did Michael Cuddyer learn to be clutch??? THREE RUN HOMER!

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 3 - It's still not over...statistically

If they happen to win, they have done the bare minimum that they needed to accomplish this series.

They still need to find a way in the last 4 home games to come up with wins.

I guess two out of three is ok.
I guess two out of three is ok.

Maybe if I keep telling myself this.... maybe if I didn't get sucked in so easily....

It really wasn't good enough. You know this. :)

Our guys are basically a 0.500 team. We might stay hot and get to 83-84 wins, but really the only way we make the playoffs if Detroit basically loses four of five from here out. Certainly possible, but very unlikely.

The next six games determine our season IMO. The Twins aren't going to sweep Detroit in Detroit. At best they might take 2, and if miracles happen, 3 of those 4 games.

Realistically, the Twins probably have to go 4-2 or 5-1 in their next six (@CHI, @KC) to get within a game of Detroit heading into that series. At that point, if they split, they have a home series against Kansas City that they'll have to sweep to tie Detroit or surpass them. Do I think Minnesota will go 10-3 in their last 13? It's possible, but this team hasn't shown it all year so I'm inclined to say no.

Now, Detroit could very well go 3-10 in their last 13 and give us the Division.

Detroit might be OK at 3-10. Our guys have been bad on the road and our lineup includes at least 2-3 terrible players per game.

I hope your right and they can get closer before heading to Detroit. Down to two weeks and maybe Punto/Tolbert/Gomez/Young might get hot and lucky.

Heh, can't finish ay? Typical Minnesota team. Set up the sweep and then lose. Kind of like all that work to get the one playoff game against the Sox and then suck.
