2009 MLB Playoffs

Re: 2009 MLB Playoffs

CB Bucknor? I have no idea how he keeps on getting playoff assignments.

Bucknor is worthless. That play wasn't even close.

Re: 2009 MLB Playoffs

Triple post, but I don't care. That was a horrible call at 1st. Another free baserunner for Anaheim.

I don't like to rag on MLB umps because I think they get a lot of the tough ones right. However, that was a very terrible call. Just flipped over and the TV was replaying it. Looked over and said, "what the hell are they reviewing, he was out?!?"

Saw the throw to first. Oh...

Very bad, agreed. They usually do better than that.

Not when "they" means CB Bucknor.

Usually the winner of "the worst umpire in MLB" voted on by the players.

But you know that awesome MLB, making sure the best umpires umpire in the playoffs!

Not sure about that ump--don't know him, can't comment. I'll take your word for it.

It does seem like there is extra scrutany(sp) during the playoffs. As it should be. Glad my job isn't watched that close in slow motion replay ;) :)

At least the Halo's didn't score on the play.

(And I do have to admit that I'm currently watching Wild/Kings and didn't see the rest of the inning. The rate the hockey game is going, however, I don't think I'll be watching for much longer--at least until later when the Wild seem to be able to get it together.)

EDIT: Not many in the greater Los Angeles area are watching the game, either--at least at the STAPLES. I wonder what else might be going on in town :p

Re: 2009 MLB Playoffs

on super-slo-mo you could tell Figgins was out, but I'm not sure in real time how he could tell.. it was the right call unlike the one before.

I was thinking "tie goes to the runner," but you may have a point...

Let's see if Lester can get a grounder from Hunter.

tie does go to the runner, and when it happened live, I thought he was clearly safe, but only on SUPER slo mo you could tell Pedroia got his foot there a microsecond before figgins... I'll take it, this is getting dicy though.

Re: 2009 MLB Playoffs

I'm just waiting to see how Anaheim chokes this 3 run lead away. I assume Scosia will out think himself, take out Lackey and suddenly find himself down with Papelbohn on the run in the 9th.

Although the way this is going, I don't think so.

I dunno what happened with Lackey. He was absolutely cruising, and now he can't find the strike zone.

That was a gift strike for Lackey on 3-0. And maybe for Boston. Is Ortiz the guy we want up? Never mind.

Lackey is an enigma. I have no idea why Scosia continues to roll him out against the Sox year after year... bad things just happen to that dude.

And as I say that, Youk is about to strike out.

Re: 2009 MLB Playoffs

Joe West is king of the "I feel bad for you, lets pretend its LL and because it was a 3-0 count, you could hit the guy and I'd call it a strike" attitude. Don't gift the Angels, this is the big leagues.

Re: 2009 MLB Playoffs

yeah, it was ball four (same spot as balls 1-3), but he grooved one to Youk on strike "2" that he should have tied the game on... oh well
