2009 MLB Playoffs

Re: 2009 MLB Playoffs

That's a pretty brutal missed call there, for those watching the whole game, has he not been giving the low strike all game?

Did they play that part of the song over the PA system? I was listening to the song the other day and realized that part would be perfect. :D

Yes they did. Followed by Standing on Top of the World.

Angels win 7 to 6!

Did not see that coming.

Series just getting interesting? Yankee Stadium is such a difficult place to play

Re: 2009 MLB Playoffs

The series was over when they couldn't beat Sabathia on short rest. Watching this series now and expecting the Angels to win is like rooting for the Titanic to make it to America.

You mean something happens to the boat? Oh great! Thanks for ruining the movie for me!

Re: 2009 MLB Playoffs

Random question... do they have more commercial time between innings during the playoffs or something?

Re: 2009 MLB Playoffs

Rumor on WIP this morning is that Hamels is playing hurt, which is why his stuff isn't working. Of course that's pure speculation, because nobody is saying anything other than the talking heads.

They suggested the following rotation:

Game 1 - Lee
Game 2 - Blanton
Game 3 - Martinez
Game 4 - Hamels (if he's truly healthy, or possibly Happ)

Logic was they didn't want Pedro pitching game 2 in NY, since he'd probably open his mouth and give the Yanks bulletin board material. Also, since Hamels is shaky, having him pitch game 3, means he's the man for game 7. To much of a risk. So Pedro gets game 3.

They also mentioned that Lee's ERA is a full point higher on 4 days rest than it is on 5 days rest. He's NEVER pitched with 3 days rest, so nobody think's Charlie will try it with this much on the line.
