That hit was miles worse than the one on Savard. Brashear took two full strides after Blair Betts had released the puck - he practically wasn't even moving towards until after the release.

What are they chanting at the end of that video?

Re: 2009-2010 NHL Season Part 3: After The Gold Rush

Wow.. I'm just hearing about this for the first time today on the NHL Network and I thought the NHL reasoning for not suspending this 'repeat offender' was as weak as weak could be. Cooke is a head hunter. Are you telling me with his 2 previuos infractions that he hasn't been warned about doing this again? Are league officials not able to override a clear cut intent, even though no whistle was blown with their current rules' system? Given that this has can could have and will happened to anyone .. the Players deserve more respect and protection from this type of event- than what the league offered today.

Here's my not so crazy example.. Cooke knocks someone off. There is video tape of Cooke knocking someone off. There is video and a record of Cooke knocking peole off in the past.. Cooke has gone to jail because knocking people off in the past.. but this time, this time becasue nobody blew a whistle when Cooke knocked someone off, even though we can see it clearly on video, we can't exactly hold Cooke accountable, because..... we haven't changed the rules yet??? huh? I guess the league can't be held accountable either.. because it's not in the rules..

The players will hold him accountable.. remember, some cat named Neely is in the front office, too. He might lace 'em up himself just to throw down!

I'd disagree with jmh's impression... that was ugly but it was also against Brashear's momentum and was an uppercut where again, you lose power. Not to call it any more clean or classy. Cooke's hit was in the full swing of momentum in that direction with as solid part of the body as possible jammed into Savard's head. That's the type of hit that will quite literally get somebody killed if Colin Campbell gets his way.

People are expecting a fight or a cheap shot in the next Bruins/Penguins game, but it's going to be on the NHL Network and is there any doubt that the B's will be told by the league that if they so much as breathe on Cooke (or Crosby, or Malkin) there will be hell to pay? And if they meet again this season, it will be in the playoffs. That would mean the earliest the B's could get retribution is next season.

So did we ever discuss how long of a suspension Lucic would have gotten had it been him doing the exact same thing to Sid the Donk on Sunday afternoon? No fewer than 5, and if he ended his season, minimum 10 I reckon (?)

It would be hilarious (though not possible) if the Providence Bruins all got called up next Thursday for that game against pis sburgh

The lengths the NHL will do to protect their scumbags is insane. Must be one of those "he's just like us" type of things.

There's only one thing to do: take out Crosby and end his season. Sorry, Campbell. Just playing by your rules.

28 other NHL fanbases probably mock the Sharks for their choking ways.

The 29th is Nashville. 6 goals by San Jose in the 3rd to become the 1st team to come from behind in the 3rd to win in regulation in 3 consecutive games in NHL history.

I see nothing wrong with a headshot to Sidney Crosby delivered by Thornton, Begin or Lucic. After all, it is legal.

This young man has had a very trying rookie season,
what with the litigation, the notoriety, his subsequent deportation to Canada,
and that country's refusal to accept him.
Well. That's more than most 21-year-olds could handle.

(Edit: my apologies, as Priceless made this reference several hours ago...)
