Re: 2009-2010 New Hampshire Wildcats Season

So I'm worried about this weekend.

For years the Red Sox dominated the Devil Rays (they will always be the Devil Rays...period). And while Tampa has certainly built a talented ball club, that doesn't explain why they've recently gained a distinct upper hand against the Sox.

It has always seemed to me that the Devil Rays take the series far more seriously than the Sox. It's not that the Sox don't care; but that the Devil Rays REALLY get pumped up to play Boston. It's just another series to the Sox.

Last year I got that same feeling out of BU/UNH. UNH is a young team, and I just think that the Terriers get pumped to play the 'Cats. Additionally, BU is coming off a disappointing loss to BC (see Clarkson after losing to UVM).

Anyhoo, hoping for a great weekend. Anybody else going to WBA?

I'll be there. Not sure about the Litter box, as the men are playing as well~
I think a lot of the trouble UNH has had recently with BU stems from not being able to make the quick adjustment to the mini surface.

I don't think UNH is taking this team lightly at all, especially based on DZ's statements in the video. I've seen BU play a few times this year, and we are quite capable of beating them. Just have to not beat ourselves:cool:

Re: 2009-2010 New Hampshire Wildcats Season

I heard Wake isn't returning.

This article is only a couple of weeks old. It gives every indication that Wake is coming back to UNH in the fall. It will be very dissapointing if she doesn't. After watching her play in almost every home game, I feel UNH helped her to improve her game and her skating. Why would she want to leave when she has been given every opportunity at UNH?

When one team has been very successful for years while the other is still looking to write their history, I think it goes beyond the favorite not taking the underdog lightly. If the lower-ranked team chooses to circle the date on their calendars and come in jacked up to the roof, the power team can't match that adrenaline in every game, against every opponent. In most cases in women's hockey, the favored team still finds a way to win, often through superior talent. But if one team is not taking the other lightly, while the other has been focusing on the game for months, I think there is an intangible advantage gained.

After all that insightful (hopefully not inciteful  ) analysis, I say UNH still wins, but given BU is involved, OT wouldn't surprise me.:p

Agreed, and BU lost just days ago to cross town rival BC, so they have some redeeming to do. All the ingredients for a good game on Babcock Street this evening:) Oops, and I forgot to pack that new BU T-shirt I got on Monday for being among the first 200 to enter the game:rolleyes:

Is that part of a lizard costume?:D

Nice article, which really speaks highly of Bellamy's leadership. If you wanted to read between the lines, perhaps there is a suggestion (despite her closeness with Bellamy, who is now gone) that she otherwise didn't feel she really fit in well at UNH overall --regardless of her production on the ice.

That would be unfortunate for everyone, but regardless of what decision is ultimately made, in the meantime UNH has secured a couple of strong recruiting classes to add to its depth of talent.

Over time most Players improve if there is consistant effort, and good competition. Miss Wakefield was an extremely talented Player before she got to UNH and will continue to excel wherever she Plays next season.

I completely agree Miss Wakefield was a very good player upon arriving in Durham. My point was that I am pretty shocked if the rumours are true that she is leaving. I enjoyed the article and I was happy to read about the mutual respect these players have for one another and about how Bellamy's leadership and friendship had such an impact on Wakefield over the past couple of years. Most girls leave programs due to lack of ice or pp or pk time and that is obviously not the case here. While I agree UNH has a good freshman class, Wakefield is an impact player that could will herself to score important goals. If these rumours are true she will be missed in Durham and I wish her well wherever she chooses to go. I feel these rumours maybe true seeing as this article is nowhere to be found on the UNH website.
