2009-2010 New Hampshire Wildcats Season

Re: 2009-2010 New Hampshire Wildcats Season

Wish I could have seen the rematch, but alas, I was in NH watching, well, history being made:(
Condolences on the end of your streak, but quite a streak it was!

So now we can put an end to the speculation that we have some kind of home ice advantage, right;)

Providence played a very good game. It was obvious they prepared hard for our game, and executed very well. They took away time and space, and that's hard to do on Lake Whitt. Kudos to them.

That said, I don't think it's a bad thing for a team to have a game that takes them back to the basics, and reminds them that hard work and dedication have to happen every day to make goals attainable.

CONGRATS to MICAELA LONG on her 100th point, and we are looking forward to many more!

On to BC~

Way to Go Sarah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Game Winner: Sarah Cuthbert buries a backhand off a breakaway in the first period against BC. She would add an assist in the third and pick up First Star honors for the game.

UNH roundup: Wildcats blank BC; McCloskey picks up 200th win

FROM STAFF REPORTS

Wednesday, December 9, 2009
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Sarah Cuthbert recorded a goal and an assist to lead the fourth-ranked University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team to Tuesday night's 4-0 victory against Boston College in Hockey East action at Conte Forum. The win was the 200th for eighth-year UNH head coach Brian McCloskey, who has a career record of 200-42-48.

UNH, which extended its unbeaten streak vs. the Eagles to nine games (8-0-1) with its fourth straight win in the series, improved to 11-2-4 overall and 6-1-1-0 in Hockey East. BC is now 5-7-6, 4-4-3-3.

It was Cuthbert's first career assist and the two points are a personal best. UNH goaltender Kayley Herman recorded her third shutout of the season and 14th of her career with a 21-save effort. Katie Brock tallied the first points of her career with a pair of assists.

BC goalie Kiera Kingston stopped 27 shots, including 13 in the first period.

Kelly Cahill, Julie Allen and Kristina Lavoie each added a goal for the 'Cats.

New Hampshire concludes the 2009 calendar year Dec. 12 (7 p.m.) at intrastate rival Dartmouth College. UNH rings in the New Year at Fenway Park against Northeastern University on Jan. 8. The Wildcats' next home game is Jan. 16 (2 p.m.) against Providence College; that game is part of Hockey East's Skating Strides Against Breast Cancer initiative.

Congratulations to Coach McCloskey on reaching this milestone. I doubt there are too many coaches who have fewer losses than ties.

Tape To Tape: Without a chance of getting a shot off Kristine Horn opts to try a backhand, behind the back pass to Kelly Cahill as she drives the net. The pass hit nothing but tape, and then net, for the Wildcats' second score of the game.

Katie Brock suddenly seems confident........we might be in for a treat.

Well, not really sudden onset confidence. As mentioned last night in the cheap seats, having missed a significant portion of the beginning of her Rookie season to mono, she's likely getting to where she might have been this time in November.

Back In Action: Another victim of the insidious flu bug, Brittany Skudder is rounding back into form after her layoff. Here she lets fly with a slapshot against BC on Tuesday night.

Right Place, Right Time: Camped out at the edge of the crease, Julie Allen is in perfect position to take advantage of any rebounds that come her way. Here she deposits a Sarah Cuthbert shot into the net for the Wildcats' third goal of the game.

Contact Sport: A great way to shake the cobwebs out after the bus ride is a nice collision with a teammate early in the game.

Blizzard: In a preview of the winter weather that would descend on New England in a few short hours, Courtney Birchard snows BC's Kiera Kingston as she hunts a rebound following her shot.

Take That: Hauled down by BC's Tracy Johnson, Kristina Lavoie none the less manages to maintain control of a Micaela Long pass and backhand it into the net from her knees. It was the fourth goal of the night for the Wildcats, and came just 34 seconds after Allen's tally.

I'm sure that's not nearly enough evidence for the naysayers that T didn't take a dive behind Johnson, and emerge through the legs on the other side:rolleyes:

Re: 2009-2010 New Hampshire Wildcats Season

And you can see at 1:50 it was clearly a goal, and the young ref that emphatically called it a goal, somehow got talked out of it by the other zebras... quality :p
