It is very early and only a handful of games have been played, but my rankings for D-III teams is up and running. http://math.bd.psu.edu/faculty/rutter/D3_Rankings.html

Each team has a prior rating based on last year's results, which is why RIT is number 1 without playing a game. The effect of this prior decreases with every game played. See my web page for more information. I will try to answer any questions posted in this thread with the disclaimer that I watch 0 +/- 1 DIII games a year and I am not familiar with individual teams.

Yet I still believe leaving RIT out of the NCAA tournament was a bad decision.

Say What? Wins by powerhouses Lake Forest and Finlandia do not garner enough "love" to even be considered in your RPI calculations?? Ouch!

Yeh but. Yeh but? Yeh but! So, I am still upset that my team MIT gave up hockey. What is this world coming to? Let the debates, squabbles, east/west drivel, hand ringing, etc begin, it's hockey time!!!:)

ps: And before anyone gets to wondering to much about where the FF will be this year. In the east of course!! As they say, 'IT'S THE ECONOMY STUPID. GET OVER IT ALREADY'!!!

Sadly....I'm waiting for this very same announcement. :(

I don't buy the economy excuse...flying two teams west is just as expensive, maybe cheaper, than flying two teams east.

It's basically impossible now with Adrian's two losses to Neumann but...

The NCAA could have had a dream Frozen Four in the "west" without having to fly any teams.

Adrian, Stevens Point, Elmira, RIT

Just some food for thought :)

PS: I'm not saying these are even close to the four best teams in the country, just saying i'd find it hilarious if this was the Frozen Four and the NCAA found a way to make it happen.

I'm banking on Adrian winning the Peters Cup....the other NCHA team upsetting Gustavus in the quarters(once again) and then the FF being "west" in Adrian

8	Wis-River Falls	1.4357
9	Norwich 1.4168
10	Lake Forest	1.3748

Big tumble for Elmira. Would like to point out that these ratings are very volatile and change a lot based on one came. The more games played, the better the results. For example, the 2nd ranked team in RPI has only played two games, which explains why I have them 17th.

Hard not to notice the top 4 in the Rutters this week. What an unbeleivable set up for the Cardinal-Panther gathering early in the New Year. I mean this is math and you probably could not have scripted it any better for the kick off of the second half of the season....

It will be interesting to see how the game between Holy Cross and Trinity plays out this evening. Trinity had just enough to get past Midd, but a hot goalie can take you a long, long way.
