2009-10 D1 Pick-em'

Re: 2009-10 D1 Pick-em'

Not true, Miami had 4 freshman defenseman 1 sophmore and 1 senior last season and played for the title. Granted they had one of the top offenses in the country returning and colgate doesnt, but as far as youth on the back end it has been done.

I would have to say that the Miami situation is the exception rather than the norm and NYHOCKEYGUY's point is true the majority of the time.
I see colgate having some success at home when they can get the line match-ups they want but they will struggle on the road when opposing coaches send out their best defensive lines against McIntyre`s line and put their top offensive lines out against gates weakest defensive pairings.

Re: 2009-10 D1 Pick-em'

Only three weeks (or 21 days, if you like) until RPI and UMass get it started!

See posting #1 and "Click" to Play -
53 have picked so far.

6 more days to change or add your picks (see Post #1).

FYI - By this time the app's kind of slow - it takes a few seconds for the page to come up, see someone else's picks, etc.

Re: 2009-10 D1 Pick-em'

Well he has Duluth 8th, and to be honest, even with Stalock and Sharp, they finished 7th last year. 8th might be a little low, but not crazy.

Up until the last month of the season, did any of you guys even know who Sharp was? Or even up until the playoffs for that matter? No, because he DIDN'T do anything. He was a middle of the pack scorer who caught fire at the end of the season. If he played the way he did in the playoffs all year, we most definitely would not have finished 7th. Fontaine was our main point getter last year for almost the entire season til the last couple of games. 3 of our top 4 scorers are still on the team. I do understand that just looking at the stats and not following the team for the whole season would make it seem like it's a huge loss, but as far as the regular season is concerned, it's not really.

Re: 2009-10 D1 Pick-em'

Thanks for setting this up - ought to be interesting to see the results.

And it looks like I set the new record low prediction for UMass-Lowell. Whoops.

Re: 2009-10 D1 Pick-em'

As you may be aware, as of this moment there're less than 7 hours left before the puck dropson the 09-10 season. Yay.

You still have time to get in your predictions :)
(See Post #1).

As usual, there's a slight delay in the display.

My picks are
Mercyhurst, Notre Dame, Bemidji, Yale, UMass-Lowell, Denver

I didn't do too bad with the top picks in each conference, but the rest of it I'm sure I screwed up. Had 1 Air Force and 2 RIT in the AHA, so that wasn't too far off. Had 1 Miami and 2 NMU in the CCHA, so only a couple off on Northern. Had 1 Bemidji and 2 UAH in CHA, but hard to screw up a 4 team conference prediction. Had 1 Cornell in ECAC... But Union at 12... Had BC 1 in HEA, BU 3, and Providence 10... But also had Vermont 2. Had Denver 1 in WCHA also.

Re: 2009-10 D1 Pick-em'

Start with 345 points, which would be perfect picks for every league, every team. For every position a team finishes off your pick, subtract 1 point. So since I picked Notre Dame 1st and they finished 9th, that's 8 points lost. Do that for every team (not picking on you ND ;) - just happens to be St. Patrick's day).

345 because, believe it or not, the absolute worst picking results in exactly 0 points.

Re: 2009-10 D1 Pick-em'

I like the scoring system. Nice and simplistic.

But, I... am... screwed. My picks were absolutely awful.
