Re: 2009-10 D1 Pick-em'

*Hockey East* ~ 1.UMass-Lowell~2.Boston College~3.Vermont~4.BU~5.UNH~6.UMass~7.Maine~8.Northeastern~9.Merrimack~10.Providence ~~~ UMass-Lowell wins Hockey East Regular Season Title with Boston College winning the Post Season Title in Hockey East.....

I am thinking*Hockey East*~1.BU~2.UMass-Lowell~3.Vermont~4.UNH~5.BC~6.Northeastern~7.Maine~8.UMass~9.Merrimack~10.Providence ~BU wins Hockey East Regular Season Title with Boston College winning the Post Season Title in Hockey East....

I am thinking AHA..~1.Air Force~2.RIT~3.Mercyhurst~4.Bentley~5.Holy Cross~6.Canisius~7.Sacred Heart~8.Army~9.UConn.~10.American Int'l.....Air Force wins regular season and the Post season.

Really not much of a difference, a spot difference on any change. Top three will battle it out, but Mercyhurst is a team that can make a lot of noise this year IMO.

Colgate in 11th ????? Not So Much

Colgate lost 5 starting d men and finished 10th in the league last season. I dont recall any team having much success with as much youth as gate will have on the blueline this coming season.

Re: 2009-10 D1 Pick-em'

i mean exclude submissions which are submitted in alphabetical order... no changes.

edit: or I suppose include a "finalize" toggle switch or something.

Hey not a bad idea. I've been thinking of a variation on that feature - without spoiling the most likely coincidence of picking CHA alphabetically.

Re: 2009-10 D1 Pick-em'

I think picking BC first is a stretch.

It is indeed, I don't see why so many people think that they are gonna go from 6 to 1 after losing the top scorer and a few other contributing players, and having your top goalie out til Thanksgiving. I can see them getting home ice but first, don't think so.

Well, BC does return ONE regular defenseman (Sneep), so that may be the reason.
Tommy Cross also returns on D, but he played injured last season as a frosh and left early for knee surgery. We'll see this year.
Some folks are wagering heavily on BC's freshmen D.

Tommy Cross could make an impact, I thought last year Jimmy Hayes would be a big pickup by BC but he didn't live up to my expectations. Also, Carl can play D quite good. Only question is how do you replace the goal scoring you had in Bradford and also contributing players like Ferraro and Kucharski. Dare I say top defenseman Nick Pietrecki is gone..so well see!

Colgate was missing 2 top defenceman to injuries last year, both returning this season, and 2 of the four incoming defenceman are high NHL draft-picks.

Colgate set a record last year with 19 ties during there season, which could of easily turned into a something much higher in the standings.

Up front, well, there is some highly talented individuals.

How many ties? collegehockeystats.net has their record at 12-18-7 last year.

Also, picking Brown 9th? Something just smells funny about that prediction.

Colgate played 19 OT games last season. 6-6-7 in OT you do the math !!

I apologize. My bad. I should have realized when he said ties that he obviously meant OT games. I'll work on that telepathy thing.

And, since posting our picks is the popular thing to do: Here's my ECAC picks.
1. Princeton
2. Cornell
3. Yale
4. Quinnipiac
5. Dartmouth
6. Harvard
7. St. Lawrence
8. RPI
9. Union
10. Colgate
11. Clarkson
12. Brown

Hmm. Maybe I should put some Liberty League teams up towards the top.

Not true, Miami had 4 freshman defenseman 1 sophmore and 1 senior last season and played for the title. Granted they had one of the top offenses in the country returning and colgate doesnt, but as far as youth on the back end it has been done.

not sure what a defenceman is but getting two DEFENSEMEN back off injury will help, but you still need to score more consistantly.
