20 years of Simpsons... Some fave quotes

Re: 20 years of Simpsons... Some fave quotes

Burns to Homer, "You sold weapons grade plutonium to the Iraqis......WITH NO MARK-UP!"

Schindler and I are like two peas in a pod. We're both factory owners. We both made shells for the Nazis. But mine worked, dammit!

Lovejoy: Homer, I'd like you to remember Matthew 7:26. "The foolish man who built his house upon the sand."
Homer: And you remember...Matthew... 21:17.
Lovejoy: "And he left them and went out of the city, into Bethany, and he lodged there?"
Homer: Yeah. Think about it.

I just posted that on the wall of a friend of mine who REALLY likes Jesus. Let's see how that goes. :)

I have to use that at work now.

I know that TV stations that syndicate the Simpson's aren't going to run episodes in their original order... Heck, there isn't really a need to, given that there aren't any long-lasting storylines... But it bugs the crap out of me when my local Fox affiliate will show an episode from season 4-6 then a day or two later show some crap from season 18... Does anyone else notice this?

I just have a strong preference for episodes from the 90's and would rather be able to watch a week or two of those than maybe a few randomly inserted over the course of a month...

The Twin Cities My Network has been showing the same ones for the last month. All around season 19-20...I think I've seen the Homer and Cletus moonshine one about three times in the last month.

Thats how our local fox station is too. Most have been from the past 5 seasons maybe with more emphasis on the past 2 or 3. Oh how I long for the days of Mr Plow, Flaming Moe's, Homer at Bat, Marge vs the Monorail, Last Exit to Springfield, and many other classics.

Yeah that gets old. Just more reason to buy seasons 5 through 11!

I watched a few from season 4 today! I'm Mr. Plow, that's my name, that name again is Mr. Plow.

Doens't anyone else find that there are certain episodes that you just never see? I've seen a ton of episodes 5 or more times, but I've never seen Monorail in syndication.

The Monorail and others from that period are on occasionally. I think the perception is that newer is better and that Fox is somehow giving the syndicated buyers a bonus by giving them the new ones.

When I drive on a snowy road and the snow kicks up behind me I always think of a line from Marge vs. Monorail:

Homer driving down the cracked and broken main street with a grand piano on top of his car, "Woo Hoo! Look at that pavement fly!"

I think they're limited on how much older ones can be played in syndication, probably to encourage people to buy the DVDs, so that limits them to episodes from the last 2-4 years as the vast majority in syndication; very very occasionally you'll get stuff from the 90s.

Yeah I think that has something to do with it, they're allowed x amount of times to show episodes over x amount years or something. I don't know exactly how it works.

Homer: He might have all the money in the world...but there's one thing he can't buy.
Marge: What's that?
Homer: ...a dinosaur!

Re: 20 years of Simpsons... Some fave quotes

Bob's Burgers didn't start out too strong but the last 2 episodes have been pretty funny, reminiscent of the Simpsons' early days - quirky and a little out there.

Moe: Moe's Tavern.
Bart: Uh, yes, I'm looking for a friend of mine. Last name Jass, first name Hugh.
Moe: Hold on, I'll check.
[calls]
Moe: Hugh Jass! Hey, I want a Hugh Jass! Oh, somebody check the men's room for a Hugh Jass!
Hugh Jass: Uh, I'm Hugh Jass.
Moe: Telephone.
Hugh Jass: Hello, this is Hugh Jass.
Bart: Uh, hi.
Hugh Jass: Who's this?
Bart: Bart Simpson.
Hugh Jass: What can I do for you, Bart?
Bart: Uh, look, I'll level with you, mister. This is a crank call that sorta back-fired, and I'd like to bail out right now.
Hugh Jass: All right. Better luck next time.
[hangs up]
Hugh Jass: What a nice young man.

Carl: Homer, how can you afford all this?

Homer: I have this wonderful thing called a home equity loan. I borrow all the money I want and the house gets stuck with the bill. Sucker!
