#2 Cornell vs. #3 BU National Semifinal Game Thread

Re: #2 Cornell vs. #3 BU National Semifinal Game Thread

Not nearly as much "buzz" about this game as the first semifinal. That pass by BU's Wakefield was about as pretty as you're going to see. The 3rd period should be very interesting - we'll see if Cornell is up to the task.

The best period of hockey yesterday was the first period of the BU - Cornell game.

The first game looked one sided early, but Wisco never got that third goal, BC hung around and then a fantastic play by a BC rookie tied it up in the third to make for a great finish, a couple of gloruious chances end to end and a last minute game winner.

The Cornell BU game opened with great promise, a fast paced first period and a 1-1 tie until late in the second. The downer was the third period. After BU got the two quick goals late in the second, Cornell did not appear to have anything to recover, making for a dissappointing third period (unles you were a BU fan).

Any comments on the crowd? As I mentioned yesterday I thought it looked pitiful...but the commentator said the place had a capacity of 5000+ and that there were 3500 people in the building...(close to 70%). As the camera panned both sides of the rink you could see large swaths of empty seats in several sections. The math didn't seem to add up to me. The place looked half empty or worse.

I'd say the place was more than half full. Problem is the lower end seats on one side of the rink (where the benches are) are very poor viewing spots. My assigned seat was in one of those sections, 10 rows up from the glass, and ended up moving to the other side. I suspect capacity of that rink is at ~6000.

I posted this in the Cornell thread, but per the Ithaca Journal, Cornell will be playing two games against BU next season.
