2/8/13 - No Snow job tonight! Let's Plow through the scores, shall we?

Re: 2/8/13 - No Snow job tonight! Let's Plow through the scores, shall we?

I've got to believe tonight's whipping gives us the upper hand in any tiebreaker against Geneseo?? What's the secondary criteria after w/l and head to head? I would imagine it's goal differential in conference??

Conference wins.

Final from the Aud. Utica 7 - Nazareth 1. Tomorrow's game might get a bit chippy.........

Got the Aud's last gluten free beer of the season................
And I got a t-shirt (shot out of a t-shirt gun, bounced out of 2 other folks hands and landed at my feet) promoting Dunkin Donuts iced coffee.

Eau Claire gets shut out 3-0 (mid)west might only be getting 3 bids this year

Why would you say it might get a bit chippy?

Re: 2/8/13 - No Snow job tonight! Let's Plow through the scores, shall we?

I would hope that NSN takes some time to figure out why they can't get a broadcast together until after the third period starts. If I was personally subscribed to their site I would certainly demand a refund. And if I was an advertiser I would also want a refund.

This is an isolated incident. I watched the Platty game (NSN broadcast) from the ICU waiting room at CVPH in Plattsburgh. And Norm wil tell you as well, that is the slowest computer in the east. It was just fine. Maybe buffered twice!! I am thinking it was probably a weather related problem.

No, I watched the Norwich/St. A's game last week and it was choppy as hell. Earlier in the year it was good but the last few weeks it has been junk.

I can confirm that the computer he mentions is the slowest web capable computer I have ever used!!!

FYI:

Norwich was forced to broadcast tonight's game through a phone connection due to Internet issues. I'm sure that can account for most everyone's issues with the stream tonight.

Re: 2/8/13 - No Snow job tonight! Let's Plow through the scores, shall we?

I do have Time Warner for an internet provider so it could have been that last week.

Nice 50 shot shutout for Colin Rundell of St. Scholastica against Eau Claire...

Tanner, thank you for all your efforts tonight in getting the NSN video feed fixed, we all know this is not your or WDEV's issue. The third period hardly buffered, but I have to say, the camera man missed a lot of plays to the left of the center face off circle. It was like the camera got stuck on center ice as Castleton attacked the net defended by Czarnota. Again, no fault of the WDEV staff, but needs to be addressed with NSN if they want to improve their services and keep their customers. I don't usually have an issue with NSN's coverage, but tonights production was nothing short of disastrous.:(

I want to also say, you and George do a great job of calling the games. I find your comments very insightful and the two of you compliment each other. It is obvious that you guys really enjoy your jobs. Thanks to you and George for all your hard work.:)

A lot of negative comments tonight after a great win ... sorry so many of you had such problems viewing the game ... I just want to clarify a couple of things ... Tanner and I do the games for WDEV ... but we both also work for NSN ... I have been with NSN since 2008 and this season alone I have done some 60 games for them just since the beginning of September ... all most all of them have gone off without any problem what so ever ... Somehow we never hear a word of thanks for that ... It's only when there is a problem that all heck breaks loose ...
I want to state categorically that NSN DOES NOT SUCK!!!! They(WE) pride ourselves on the quality of our work ... I'm not a techy by any stretch, but as I understand it there are nights when the internet inside Kreitzberg leaves a lot to be desired ... sadly there have been several of those nights lately ... our producer on site tonight was busting his butt, struggling to get the necessary connection and ultimately had to go through a phone connection to get us on the air ...
I understand the frustration you feel when something you want to see isn't working the way you want it to ... I've been there, too. I'm glad the WDEV feed is there for you when you need it ... Rest assured we are working hard on both fronts to give you the best viewing/listening experience possible.
Thanks for Understanding!

Last mile bandwidth issues will continue to be a problem as radio and tv streaming become primary means of program distribution. Add live stats and other services coming out of the barn and you can see how it can get out of hand in a hurry.

Most internet providers provide variable service and pricing so host schools can/should offer home and away broadcasters and SID teams a choice of options to meet their needs - and then send them the bill for the meter when it's over... Variable bandwidth and multiple service providers should be on every arena's summer "to do list".

I feel for you Pucky - your production doesn't suck...but distribution issues make it difficult for others to come to the same conclusion... Remain Calm and Carry On

The Blugolds were out played in the first period and the Saints didn't let them off of the hook scoring three. For the night Eau Claire had four breakaways along with more than the average night of quality scoring chances. Hats off to the Saints, especially Rundell, on the upset! I hope the Blugolds learned a good late season lesson and finish the regular season right tonight.

Well I will thank you for a great job! St. Mike's just began broadcasting some of the home games on NSN this year and the few times we have watched they have been pretty good. Last night we had a few minor blips, but nothing to speak of at all.

In general, the NSN coverage has been far superior to what I get for NU road games.
