Speaking of new rules.... I hear that next season there will be a two minute minor assessed if you lay down on the ice to block a shot!:eek:

They talked about that this year, as well as taking away the icing by a shorthanded team, and serving the full 2:00 of a minor penalty, regardless of number of goals scored.

All of which, IMO, are incredibly bad ideas.

It's not. It's supposed to increase scoring. Apparently we need more 8-6 games instead of 2-1 affairs. *shakes head*

Actually, they are saying it's too much of a danger for head injuries, no more taking one for the team:(

yeah, all those suggested rule changes are really bad. not a fan of this new rule either where the penalty is still enforced after a team scores on a delayed penalty; being able to pull the goalie for an extra skater knowing the opposition wont be able to take advantage of the empty net is enough of a bonus, particularly if you score with that extra attacker

That appears to be the excuse they're using. Yes, I regularly see shots from the point ringing off of helmets into the 3rd or 4th row. Must happen 4-5 times a game. /heavy sarcasm there

I suppose that's why they want to make the nets the size of a monster truck as well. :rolleyes:

Well, I'd rather they did that than have someone serve the full 2:00 of a minor. I think doing that would take away some of the severity of the 5:00 penalties, relative to the minor ones.

We need to have the officials wear cages to avoid the injuries. :rolleyes:

Some of the officials need to be out there without helmets in the first place. A puck or two to the head might knock some sense into them.

Those of a certain age will remember when 8-6 was a typical college game.
