The expression goes back to at least 1992: "if you give voters the choice between Republican and Republican Lite, it's obvious who they will pick."

The Democratic agenda wins more the farther Left we go. But the Members are bribed handsomely by the donors not to do this. They gain a reward for deliberately throwing the game. They get the bribes as long as they play along. If they represented their constituents' interests, they would lose those rewards.

That is why a laughable cul de sac, Reaganomics, stupid on its face and immediately demonstrated to be suicidal for the country, turned from a 2-year howler to a 45-year albatross with no end in sight. Simple corruption. The payment of bribes to betray voters.

And there is dome evidence  some are shifting. Jeffries gave a few good interviews railing against the Venezuela bs and they don't seem to be taking the bait on most of the crap.

They did their big "what went wrong" post mortem (which they won't release sadly) and I will bet money non-leadership basically said the voters are not with this "Centrist/both sides/go for disaffected Republicans ideal. The voters are showing what they care about "no war, health care, no data centers, FUCK ICE" and we need to at least placate that. Some of the stories of what was going on leading up to November are downright scary.

I dont for a second tbink they will shift enough to make anyone happy...but if they even more one slot left it will be a huge benefit to them. Best way to force this...PRIMARY EVERYONE!

Hochul is the most vulnerable D at any level of government. She’s not likeable, comes off as arrogant and her policies are kinda meh (at least the implementation of them). For all the bloviating Stefanik did, bottom line she got elected by selling her soul, and it turns out voters don’t like that.

It was a gamble...a really bad one considering didn't she run as a non-MAGA originally?

From what I can tell Hochul sucks but she was smart enough to endorse Mamdani knowing she is getting primaried from her Left.

Or, here’s a conspiracy for the theorists…she’s in the files, as one of the underagers that were up for grabs and someone from Blakeman’s team found out about it

Yes, she was very anti-MAGA until she was offered a place in Congressional leadership, and does not even visited her district. Not as popular as people think. Hochul is so far being primaried by her Lt. Governor, Antonio Delgado, but I don’t know if he’s to her left or not. I bet the Mandan endorsement was so he DIDN’T endorse a challenger from her left.
