119th congress: must be at least 75 to chair a committee!

Yeah, any further donations from me dried up in January once it became clear Gretchen and Elissa have decided to sell out and collect checks. I will vote for the youngest and most progressive Senate candidate that I can in the 2026 primary, and it's looking like none of the ladies are going to fall on that sword. IDK if they're scared of being labeled and targeted for RWNJ violence because they're women, or they just have too much greed/ambition, and not enough concern for the constituents they serve. Either way, it's pathetic and demoralizing.

And the next generation is no better. Sen. McMorrow's book has advice on getting off your phone (digital detox) and picking a balance of traditional media outlets. It also includes a reprint of the standard AllSides "media bias chart". We are way, way beyond the point where this is useful advice for our society, let alone the people who would bother to buy her book. I mean fuck, we blew past that point probably 10-15 years ago when social media trends became the preferred "news" source for a majority of the country. She also tells this ancedote from her first campaign in 2018 where she supposedly convinced a MAGA couple whose door she knocked on to vote for her. All the usual, "we can melt the hate in their hearts if we can find an angle to just talk to them" bullshit.

I get that her book was not written for my demo, and will almost certainly have a majority 40+ year-old female audience since those are her people if she's going to win the nomination. I'm sure Liz Smith read all the drafts and inserted her own "helpful" advice. Most middle-aged women are too comfy and want to keep their friends too much to advocate for actions and ideas that may be considered uncouth.

Of all the things that didn't happen, this didn't happen the most!

That Allsides bias chart is so phucking worhtless. First of all it is wrong but worse is that mealie mouthed Centrists and Reagan Democrats use it as proof that those of us that think and protect people are on the wrong sides of issues.

Oh it's an epic pile of bullshit. She was also paired with a young volunteer who'd never knocked on doors before and the data they had indicated this couple should be Democrats, until they opened the door. She supposedly found her pitch by discussing education, because the woman's daughter was a teacher.

I lol'd so hard at this perfect, fake "how I burst the bubble" story.

That died when they started voting Red. Opposition is what is needed and they aren't opposing. As I said they opposed Biden's Agenda more than Trump's.
But I was told if I didn't vote for the Democrat no matter what then I was voting for Trump. Are you telling me that was wrong and maybe we should have tried to nominate more progressive candidates instead of Republican-Lite? No. That can't be true. The Democrats are just trying to appeal to more Republicans to broaden the base so they can win by even more in the next election!!!

It doesn't matter either way. No one was ever going to vote for the black lady. No one was going to vote for Hillary. Was never going to happen.

This country loves their (stupid as fuck) Orange God. I've never witnessed anything like it, and I hope I never do again.

Anyone who runs against my incumbents in primaries or the general is getting my vote. Supposedly Pappas is going to be running for Shaheen's Senate seat. Now I like him in general, but any other Dem running against him, short of a Republican in Dem clothing is gonna get my vote.

You were...so you can stop that phucking BS right now. What happened in November is not the same as what is happening now and your disingenuous crap isn't as clever as you think it is Priceless. Those who didn't vote for Harris in November are complicit. Trixie is a phucking Nazi for voting for Stein especially since he knew better. You weren't opposing fascism by voting third party or not voting (if that was your choice) you were doing exactly what the Dems are...enabling.

And the sad thing is you know that but you want to sound enlightened...you aren't.

You're barking up the wrong tree. I campaigned for Harris. Maybe the problem was that she ignored the left in the Midwest and focused her GOTV efforts on turning out more Republicans...

But I do find it intriguing that people in the past who supported anyone but the Democratic nominee were complicit in allowing Fascism but now people who vote for someone else (or don't vote at all) are not....

I know you understand the difference between primaries and general elections, so knock off the sanctimonious bullshit.

Comment 1: Then what are you even arguing?

Comment 2: again are you just willfully ignorant or are you trolling out of boredom? What happened before is not the same as what is happening now. Voting out the complicit is not the same as voting in the fascist. You can twist yourself into a pretzel trying to make it the same but it isn't. Here lets break it down like this:

November 2024: Average Dem vs. Fascist for President

One of these people will probably make a lot of mediocre decisions and stuff I don't agree with but 60-70% of the time will be on the right side of an issue (not far enough Left for my taste but not in any way Right) and will be much more amenable to shifting. The other candidate is exactly who we see right now and who openly said he would be.

Midterms 2026: Candidate who will do what Fascist wants most of the time vs. Candidate who will do what Fascist wants all of the time.

There is ostensibly no difference. If you vote for his cabinet, if you allow his bills to pass, if you don't push the agenda and all you do is wag your finger you are in fact just enabling the Fascist. (especially in the Senate)

In the first part we can stop fascism from taking hold...and non-voters and the trixies of the world failed to do that. Now we need to put people in Congress who will stand up and do more than give speeches or wag fingers. We need to hold those in power accountable...we don't do that by just letting the cakewalk to their 6 figure salaries.

Ya see, thing is that Presidential Elections and Congressional elections do not have the same consequences. If you said to me you didn't want to vote for the local Dem to represent you because he is trash and not worth it I can hear that. Might hurt the Dem President Agenda like often happened with Biden but whatever. You are not enabling fascism by splitting the government with a Dem President and GOP Congress you are just hamstringing the Dem. Some people prefer that. (not me)

My rep is doing what she can in the House. My Senators are split on that. (Smith opposes and Klobuchar wants to reach across the aisle) If Amy was up I would want her primaried hard in part to try and shift her back left but also because she is past her effectiveness. Sadly it is Smith that is done so I will likely have the choice between the Klobuchar style (Craig) and the fighter. (Flanigan)

We don't need a Democratic Joe Rogan (thats what Meidas Touch is for) we need Dems that will actually listen tot he phucking voters.
This reply was perfect:

"This week on The Meathead Centrist, we're talking to Pete Buttigieg about how means testing is *the coolest* and later we'll hear from Gavin Newsom about how the Dead Kennedys song 'Kill the Poor' influenced him as governor.

Sponsored by Milquetoast, the new brain supplement that'll get you punching left harder than ever before!"

I agree with this but how far left do you think you can go in one election cycle?, Maybe if you can get folks who stay home instead of getting out to vote. The Maine Governor race for example, so far I see one person who says he wants to protect the most downtrodden folks in Maine. Definitely a friend of labor. He is from the 2nd district so you would think that would help. I doubt he will win the primary let alone the election?

How about to the Left of the phucking Lincoln Project or the Bulwark? Those are Republican lead groups that are more liberal than the average Dem is now...

I am not asking for the Dems to go full Bernie...but Jesus can we get to where Walz is maybe? Pritzker? These guys arent flaming socialists but they also won't sell everyone out to gain a point in the polls. (to be fair Pritzker did sell out the unions) They are all taking the Gretchen "run to the right and hope no one sees you" bit and they are polling so low it is almost unmeasurable.

Jesus Biden was barely off the Centrist track and he looks like FDR compared to the Dems in 2024/5. We went from Joe Manchin screwing the Dems to him being the perfect analog for them.

Maybe twice in history we have seen massive legislative accomplishments that progressives view with pride — during the 30’s and during the 60’s. Both instances shared a common feature. A Dem in the WH and a substantial majority in Congress that lasted multiple sessions.

You guys are idiots for turning on anyone who wears the D after their name, regardless of who they voted to confirm or votes they held up in Congress. They are on your team and you need to do everything to re-elect them again and again as you try to pick off members of the other team.

You want your changes? Get to 65 senators and 300 house members, then we talk. Then the Joe Manchins of the world have to bow to you, not the other way around.
