Jeffries: The government is scheduled to shut down on October 1st. The House was scheduled to vote and be present in Washington, D.C. on Monday, September 29th, and Tuesday, September 30th, in advance of the possible shutdown. And Mike Johnson has said, stay at home. That’s ridiculous.

Appears the Republicans have convinced themselves they want the shutdown. They probably believe that the Democrats will get blamed for it no matter what. And they're probably right.

When the country eventually Balkanizes I highly suggest our respective republics adopt the provision where if a government cannot pass a budget then an election is automatically triggered.

It depends how much power the younger, more sincerely Left Dems have been able to amass. The old fogeys will follow their donors' instructions and betray us for the thousandth time to the Right.

Which ever way it goes PLEASE do all the horse trading away from prying eyes. For all her many faults, Nancy did not leak to muscle an intransigent party opposition leader, to gain a short term advantage. She recognized if the party is weak running it is meaningless.
 
Nancy knew the game and how to play it. Jeffries is the guy who plays to stall out the game because he wont do what needs to be done to win. Schumer is the guy who just wants to hang out and chat while getting bled dry.
 
He could stop being a mealy mouthed loser and actually stand for something. He can barely contain his caucus and he refuses to openly support the Left Flank because of billionaires and AIPAC. Christ Mike Johnson is making him look foolish at times...
