Well, with Don Young dying that significantly changes both the House and Senate races here in Alaska.

a) The benches aren't very deep for either party and with a Governor, Senate, and now a House election too it'll be interesting to see if either party can rustle up a competent candidate.

b) RCV throws an already chaotic situation into even more chaos.

The rumor right now is the AKGOP's handpicked Senate candidate (and Trump suckup) Kelly Tshibaka is going to drop from the Senate race and go into the House race. Which seems real suspect considering how much the Trump wing wants Murkowski gone.

Also, by state law, there's a special election in three months.

Would anyone want to be a House member from Alaska? It seems like it would be a major downgrade from Senate. Of the four positions (Gov, Senate, House) I would have thought the House seat would be the least desireable.

I doubt anyone would want to be the House Member for exactly as you said, especially now without earmarks. Don Young never groomed anyone to be his replacement because he never wanted to be replaced, so anyone going in now is going in cold. I fully expect the seat to be passed around for the next decade.

Given the far right and far left are the ones usually associated with online activism, I sometimes forget there are accounts that are very moderate/centrist based. And like, militantly so.

And they all hate John Fetterman. In fact, it’s just about all they do. Entire accounts set up to attack one person and it’s all they do, all day long, treating progressives like they’re equal to the alt-right. Some are bots sure, but others are definitely real people spending their waking hours tweeting. Reminds me of how all those anti-Trump twitter accounts freaked out when Bernie went ahead in the primary. For some reason I figured those accounts were very liberal. Turned out a lot of them were either moderate Republicans or centrist Dems who were fervently anti-Trump and weren’t really for anything except the status quo.

Yeah... that is interesting. I'd much rather run for office once every six years than every other year..

That said..Don had good job security as the Dean of the House.

Congrats Jim. Sarah palin officially running for the open house seat
The list of candidates has grown to hilarious proportions.

Our new election system means it’s an open primary with the top 4 going to the general election with ranked choice.

I doubt Palin makes top four.

Fred Upton is retiring, pretty much leaving Bill Huizenga unopposed in the primary.

And Bill hasn't done anything for MI-2 except lick Dump's boots.

Upton is retiring because he will lose his primary since he voted to impeach Dump.

He voted to impeach knowing he was planning to retire. Can't take a damn thing a Republican does at face value anymore. There's always some underlying factor and it's never patriotism or altruism.
