We always knew Sinema was right there with Manchin. If the parliamentarian rules that a wage increase is allowed under reconciliation, maybe she’ll vote for it during the next one.

I had a talk with Dr. Mrs. about Sinema. She wasn't surprised she balked at ending the filibuster but she was very surprised she was against passing the minimum wage as part of reconciliation.

Per Dr. Mrs., Sinema is an automated political animal. She has hunter/killer pragmatic instincts and is driven solely by her political career considerations. She has neither principles nor loyalty nor ideology. She is Bill Clinton with boobs. She and Nikki Haley are separated at birth, with each having happened to fall onto different color Football Squares.

That means Sinema is better than Manchin. Manchin has a degree of principle and ideology, and he will stay where he is. Sinema will move left as AZ becomes bluer, and she can also be moved by bribery or threats if the expected value is > 0.

I would assume Dr. Mrs. likes that she is a very thoughtful Senator who stands by her convictions. She also keeps her yap shut about the internal goings on.

Her idealism is nice...it is also totally naïve.

As it turns out, it's exactly the opposite. :-)

Though she does think her stance on reconciliation is a (very rare) miscalculation. That hopefully means new data will cause her to have an "agonizing reappraisal."

Very interesting info!

It is just her opinion, but she's been right way more often than she's been wrong the last 15 years. She actually does know the biz from the inside.

It's been funny to watch a political naif with purely academic historiographic training changed by experience into an insightful political analyst. Suffice I get way better op-eds over breakfast than the viewers of MTP ever do.

She's rather easily impeached on her lack of personal judgment, but hey.

Perdue filed papers to run against Warnock for the Senate seat in 2022. We definitely want this to happen especially if Abrams is on the ticket for Governor!

Kentucky GOP is asking Mitch to step down as Minority Leader...

Oh Boy!

To be fair, Nelson County represents about 1% of the state population. Currently, the majority of the state GOP apparatus supports McConnell. I think they overwhelmingly voted down some resolution a month ago that would have basically forced McConnell to get down on his knees before Trump.
