Meanwhile, back at the ranch.

I kind of figured it'd be the state of New York that would nail him if anyone does.

Re: 116th Congress: Episode 1 - Trial by Fire

John James is running for Senate again in Michigan. He must be hoping for a Trump wave, because he couldn’t even beat Stabenow in ‘16.

Edit: ‘18. Thanks bronco

Peters is a good backbencher, but that could be a problem for him. I feel like as a freshman, a lot of people don't know who he is except the (D) next to his name. He probably needs to start talking a little louder about what he's worked on (mostly a lot of VA stuff), because John James is black, but is a conservative veteran, so that effectively cancels out the casual racism of a typical Republican voter in Michigan. Even though he lost to Stabenow, it was in a blue wave year where a lot of women turned out to vote for her/against Dump, and he only went down by about 6 points. I feel like a race against Peters could be hand-countingly close.

Nothing fishy here, folks.

“The DOT under Secretary Elaine Chao designated a special liaison to help with grant applications and other priorities from her husband Mitch McConnell’s state of Kentucky.”

Itch must have forgotten to invite Politico to his most recent Beltway Cocktail Party. About the last media outlet I'd expect to run a corruption expose about him.

Re: 116th Congress: Episode 1 - Trial by Fire

Enough of this feckless twatwaffle. If he wants to run for governor of WV instead of another Senate term then let him, but he can either endorse the Democratic nominees for his seat and for President, or else the Democrats should cut him off.

No dice. Manchin can endorse Elmer Fudd for President if he'd like. He also voted against the tax theft bill and against repealing the ACA. There are exactly zero Republicans that would do the same if they were holding that seat and there's no other Democrat with a snowball's chance in hell of winning it.

Re: 116th Congress: Episode 1 - Trial by Fire

Manchin just can't do that and expect to run as a D again. Rescind his party affiliation.

I've heard he doesn't plan on running for Senate again. But this is a battle we don't need to fight. The worst Dem (say Manchin) is better than the best Republican. Astounding how people still don't get that.

Re: 116th Congress: Episode 1 - Trial by Fire

Find a better Democrat who can explain to West Virginians how Manchin and the Republicans have bent them and everyone else in Coal Country over the kitchen table for the last 30 years, and that that is why they live in a dying state.

Sounds good. Got anybody in particular in mind?

Meh, I don't like Manchin, but this is what he was saying in June of last year. If he were saying this now, five years before his next campaign, then yeah--he could go **** himself.

Thomas Frank did this 15 years ago. They don't want to know.

It's appalling how hard and how often he has to work for this cause.

Re: 116th Congress: Episode 1 - Trial by Fire

Will Mitch even let it see a vote?
