115th Congress the final chapter: And Gerry Mander as the Speaker.

Re: 115th Congress the final chapter: And Gerry Mander as the Speaker.

O-fer isn't a flip? Seriously you people are so confusing. But, hey, you want to shoot me for reporting what I hear, feel free. It's exactly what happened in 2016.

OK, yes, 0-fer is a flip. It's also not ever ever happening since some of those seats are going to be in really red states. The point being, needing to only defend 9 seats is pretty unheard of, so it was always a much bigger climb in the Senate.

You sound like a gambler regaling us with his one big win...forgetting of course all the times you lost before that.

We get it, you watched CNN or Faux and they said it might go sideways. That isn't surprising it was predicted they would say this.

Re: 115th Congress the final chapter: And Gerry Mander as the Speaker.

I still don't get it. I watch it once in a while and I listen to Rush as I did today and you would have to be a complete moron to fall for that ****.

You watch it once in awhile. Others listen to this crap non-stop. They hear it in their echo chamber.

If you hear an outlandish story once, you may dismiss it. From a second source, you may start to question. From a source that claims it's "fair and balanced" and has "news" in its name...maybe now you believe the content is factual. You continue to hear the same stuff over and over from the only people you talk to and the news feed on your social media, and you begin to think the other side is lying. Pretty soon you're listening to Alex Jones and believing his latest conspiracy.

I guess I've never fallen for that even in mass doses. I guess I was able to learn critical thinking skills despite the fact that I washed out my first go at college. Personally I don't know how anyone could go through life (barring a handicap of some sort that would have my sympathy) without critical thinking skills. Seems to me that skill should be at the top of anyone's food chain.

Problem is you're parroting Republican talking points. What else do you expect them to say? That they're fuked so call the hearse already?

Reminds me of 2006, when my incompetent great uncle Karl had the press believing that the GOP was going to hold on by 2 seats. Oddly enough this is the same thing they're saying now, although I don't know why they keep picking two seats as their majority. Then, like now, there was also an approximately zero chance that the Dems would also take the Senate, as they'd need every race to break their way. The minute a party stops projecting confidence is when their fundraising completely dries up and things start to snowball.

I'm parroting nothing of the sort.

Re: 115th Congress the final chapter: And Gerry Mander as the Speaker.

Picture the average American in your head. Then realize about 50 percent of the population is dumber than that.

I didn't take stats--how does this "average," "mean," thing work? I mean, if you have a small population of people who are completely f c ing, irretrievably stupid as trump is, weighing down the midpoint, does that mean there will be more than 50% who are smarter than I am? (likely in any case)

Explain it like I'm in trump's grade.

Median is the 50th percentile.

If the group is mainly stupid, with a few super smart people pulling up the average, then the majority of people will be below the mean/average. In other words, the median is below the average.

Other way around if the group is mainly smart with a few super dumb people.

I tend to view any population measured in 9 figures like the US is as pretty much a bell curve. A few really really dumb people, a few ridiculously smart people, and a bunch clustered in the middle. But if you picture someone smack dab in the middle of that curve, half of it is still dumber than that hypothetical middle.

There are many out there that just can't grasp the big picture. Not sure what to call that.

But many addicts are not necessarily just oblivious. My family has its fair share plus. They're smart enough. Coulter and Ingraham are not dumb and I don't think they're necessarily evil (but perhaps bad). Addicts just have a completely different psychological make up - while some are listening to music - they're getting a fix. I think there's a fear trait in them and they want to lash out. I'm not sure where the 'let's make everyone on the left an enemy' came from...but I do know that the left is more than tired of it.

Yep. This is exactly what I predicted months ago. Everyone here thought it was cute when some lawmaker spends his dinner in a restaurant getting verbally abused, but only because that lawmaker happened to be on the opposite side politically. Then I spent weeks getting ridiculed for suggesting that acting like a complete twatwaffle maybe isn't the preferred way to go, because all it does is further ramp up ridiculous behavior.

The only time I liked when people did that was when Nielsen got confronted at I believe a Mexican Restaurant while detaining Mexican children at the border. (and being caught lying about the details) That type of brazen douchiness should get called out. Other than that unless the person has done something ridiculously bad leave them alone when they are in public with their family.

In fairness though most of the protesters didnt say these types of things they just chanted. This type of heckling is off the charts bad. Sad thing is it is pretty mainstream thinking amongst the GOP at this point...even some of the ones I know speak this way about people like Pelosi. the amount of vitriol the Right has towards her is rather astounding. I mean you can hate she is a liberal all you want to but what exactly has she done to make so many hate her? Her run as Speaker didnt lead to anything that should upset the Right that badly.
