115th Congress the final chapter: And Gerry Mander as the Speaker.

Re: 115th Congress the final chapter: And Gerry Mander as the Speaker.

If tD wins and Ds control HoR, nothing passes thru the HoR
if dPOTUS46 wins and GOP controls Senate, nothing passes thru the Senate.

Sounds like we may be safe from adventurous legislation until 2024.

Re: 115th Congress the final chapter: And Gerry Mander as the Speaker.

I'm slowly trying to convert Kep back to his old self. ;)

But I agree about the House and Senate. Either one party rule or not much gets done. The good news for Dems is that they managed to avoid getting blown out when facing a horrific Senate map in 2018. Now they need to pick off the winnable races in CO, AZ and ME and find one other (IA or NC) to offset a probable AL loss.

Oh goody. We need FDR and we'll get Obama.

This is certainly true and easily forgotten.

AL is gone unless R can find another pedo.

CO should be a win. ME who knows? They seem to be moving towards Tundra West Virginia.

AZ I would never want to depend on even though McSally is a joke. Jokes have won elections before ahem).

IA, maybe; Ernst is a fool but see above. NC? Hard to see the good guys winning there. Their elections are overseen by Putin. Speaking of which, that jackwagon Perdue could be vulnerable as GA inches slowly towards civilization. Gonna happen someday.

Booker could f-ck up NJ. I have no idea what pond scum is lurking in the Corruption Bullpen behind him, and the NJ GOP has pulled off dark money victories before.

You sound concerned... ;)

He considers overturning the Dumpy laws to be "not prudent."

To the lion, the carnage of the veld is just good ol' common sense and we shouldn't be in a hurry to change it. Maybe we can study it a while. Appoint a blue ribbon committee.

Re: 115th Congress the final chapter: And Gerry Mander as the Speaker.

Rarely should the Congre$$ go where no one has gone before.

How about going back to sanity?

The radical experimentation and social engineering of the last 40 years has been from the far right.

Re: 115th Congress the final chapter: And Gerry Mander as the Speaker.

Actually it really should, we're facing our entire planet potentially being cooked beyond the point of return.

It'd help if some ****ers would stop piling on running for President and run for Senate seats instead.

The sad fact is several of the also rans couldn't even make it as Senator.

This, Beto 2.0 should be, "hey I'm actually running for the senate instead because I actually care about public duty as much as I say I do and I'm not just an empty suit narcissist who wants the glory of being president". Hickenlooper should do the same.

Re: 115th Congress the final chapter: And Gerry Mander as the Speaker.

Regarding recruiting, yes it would be nice if Abrams had run in GA and Bullock in MT. However its a bit early to be declaring anything a recruiting miss at this point. In some cases Dems might benefit from having a candidate who's not a career politician tackling a few of these races. People find it hard to believe, but until Warren declared the Dems had nobody worthwhile to take out Scott Brown in Massachusetts because until recently the Dem bench was all lifelong career political hacks who were unelectable statewide. In fact the only Dem governor since 1990 (?!?) was an outsider with no ties to state politics (Deval Patrick).

Hickenlooper is a Governor; Senate is a step down.

But I'd take that advice for:

Bennett (CO, challenge Gardner in 2020)
O'Rourke (TX, challenge Cornyn in 2020)
Gravel (AK, challenge Sullivan in 2020)
Messam (FL, challenge Rubio in 2022)
Booker (NJ, incumbent up in 2020)
Gillibrand (NY, incumbent up in 2024)
Klobuchar (MN, incumbent up in 2024)
Sanders (VT, incumbent up in 2024)

Hey man, it’s ok when the radical right passes laws. That’s just good governing.
Can’t let the left do it though- that’s way too radical. Just ask our centrists around here

Re: 115th Congress the final chapter: And Gerry Mander as the Speaker.

I don't really care about incumbents (especially those in safe districts like Booker) or people running 4 years from now, I care about flipping the senate in 2020 and going from there. And Mike Gravel is like 100 running an issues campaign and has no real ambitions to return to politics from what I gather so I'm not too concerned about him either.

I'm fine with people like Gravel and Messam ahem "running for president" this Summer to get their names and shtick out there, then taking a run at the Senate seats.

Anything that gets people discussing liberal policy on the merits and banishing the Curtain of Ignorance the Republican dopeocracy functions behind is healthy for us and our country.
