115th Congress: On Permanent Vacation

Re: 115th Congress: On Permanent Vacation

Individual Mandate repeal is the destruction of Obamacare. Which, apparently, is morally repugnant.

Yeah which is why either Collins is nuts or she is trolling. The House will never go for either of her concessions so the thing dies in Conference anyways. Right now she is McCain though...the whole thing goes with her cause I dont see any way Corker and Flake flip at this point. Corker ticked off the whole Caucus yesterday with his antics so he is making a statement and Flake can vote "conscience" cause he out the door anyways.

Re: 115th Congress: On Permanent Vacation

Sounds like Corker and Flake flipped. Maybe 5mn_Major can tell us how brave Flake is again...

Flake is running for president. I think this is a big miscalculation. He has zero differentiation outside of opposing Dump. By folding he gives up his entire nomination profile as The Man Who Stood Up to the Monster. It doesn't matter if it's not popular right now (and with this bill and its 75% disapproval it isn't even that unpopular) it was his only Hail Mary.

He's probably started sniffing his own farts and thinks he already some recognition. He's wrong.

Corker just reverted to type. Even though he hates Dump personally he can't resist the grift. And I'm sure his hesitancy has yielded him tremendous personal enrichment via both the RNC and the Kochs.

Collins is disappointing. I though she had a modicum of patriotism, but apparently not.

Re: 115th Congress: On Permanent Vacation

Flake has no shot at President. When you are polling near single digits in your home state you are DOA. He is a low level cabinet guy at best and likely not even that.

I dunno what they bribed Corker with but he just turned America in Kansas/Oklahoma.

And so goes any shot there ever was I would vote Republican. Fiscal responsibility my left nut.

Of course, he's a loon, but he had hitched his wagon to a Hail Mary where he would be the main man opposing Dump, Dump would implode, and Flake would look like a brave genius.

Beats workin' at Sears.

Nobody will be working at Sears in a few years.

Interesting, the same source (assuming you're looking at the Hill) said they had the votes a few hours ago... so who knows. I gotta assume it'll pass but maybe that's my inner Scooby taking over :(

Re: 115th Congress: On Permanent Vacation

Corker is a no, for whatever good that does at the moment.

It does nothing cause Collins is a yes. The only thing that matters now is why she is a yes. She says it is because of the insurance issue...if it runs afoul of the House bill then Tax Reform dies in Conference. IF she sold out (my guess) then she is no better than any other GOPer.

Interesting, the SALT deduction (State and Local) is back...I guarantee some arent pleased over that.

They do have the votes...they could lose one of Corker, Collins and Flake but not two. Last I saw Flake was a yes and Collins is a hard yes.

That would only have mattered in the House. In the Senate all the civilized states are straight Dem.

They have to lose them all. We have no other No and we need 3.
