Re: 0 Days Since Last Shooting: Guns, Guns, And More Guns

Still, there's a difference between Ted and Tom. Tom may be part of a group that many here find questionable. But he's not one that goes and says or does anything about it.

Ted is great in exercising his first amendment rights, but that also comes with the burden of people turning away in spite of his talent. If people want to make their X political, they have to understand that people will hold that against them. Like for Ted. Now, I picture Ted whining about people taking him to task, and that he's got the right to free speech. Again, free speech comes with the burden of making people mad, which you have to accept if you are going do that.

I'm still waiting for Fox News to tell Ted to shut the **** up and get back to singing (poorly)

You do know that, the one time in his life when he was presented with a chance to shoot back, he literally did crap his pants, right?

Like pretty much everything else about Terrible Ted, I say BS.

Is Yeats' poetry diminished (or enhanced) by his politics?

Thank you for the answer. That is what I'm wondering about. "He makes great music, but his pol views? Done with him" Perfectly acceptable, and I get it. I support it. I'm more "Well, his views overall suck, but he makes awesome music, so it won't stop me from listening/buying his music." :)

So ted was, and still is, a crybaby. Good to know.

The Parkland kids should respond with "We're not sure who this elderly man is but we hope he gets help. He seems sad." Ted was washed up before I was a teenager.

Re: 0 Days Since Last Shooting: Guns, Guns, And More Guns

He produced some above average cock rock, which is a genre people either love or hate. *shrug*

Not really apples to apples.

A large part of Ted's music is his persona. That persona is colored by his activism, particularly since he does both with the same shock appeal. So he can't then double back and claim his art is separate from his image.

To his credit, I didn't think he does, but I think his fellow travelers do. Anyway, we're not talking Yeats (or Clapton) who stays in the background of his art.

I used to like some of Intensities In 10 Cities, but I haven't really been down with Ted since I was 16.

Nugents music has never appealed to me, heard tons of it on local radio and still hear it. Not sure why anyone would listen to his opinions on anything other than music.

"shut up and strum"? :)

Re: 0 Days Since Last Shooting: Guns, Guns, And More Guns

Read an interesting take on the "guns don't kill people, people kill people..." argument put forth by many gun lovers. It was pointed out those who buy into that myth also will tell us guns save lives, the whole "good guy with a gun" myth. Well if guns don't kill people, guns can't save or protect people. Like most positions the right are taking nowadays, it seems the gun lovers' arguments are filled with hypocrisy and disconnect.

Many ways to destroy that 'guns make people safer' argument.

1) you shouldn't be a good guy with a gun - police (who know more than anyone) say if confronted with a gun, just give the money and not to pull out a gun yourself 2) those with power and anything to lose say 'no guns' - banks, airlines, courts, government buildings, etc ban guns. 3) guns make you less safe - from what I recall, the statistical chances of getting killed are double if you have a gun, double if your in the presence of a gun and 11x higher if youre a child in a household
