To be fair and consistent, I kinda do. Goose / gander and all that. If we can't be bothered to elect responsible and intelligent federal governments then we get what we deserve.

Also understand that all the southern voter suppression stuff goes out the window. Not mention the anti-abortion argle bargle.

We covered this with Orval Faubus. Not to mention the Civil F-cking War. Supremacy Clause means what it says. We tried living under the Articles and it failed, and that was in a United States the population of current day Oregon.

I have no idea if Cruz was or was not bullied, or was or was not ostracized.

Here is what I do know. The vast, vast majority of these mass shootings, and certainly almost 100% of the school shootings, involve someone with a connection at the site of the shooting. A student, a former student, maybe an employee. The same with mass shootings in the work place.

My guess is that in some of these cases the shooter was bullied or ostracized, in others he only perceived mistreatment.

But to ignore the connection that the shooters almost always have to the location of the shooting is, in my opinion, to ignore important facts that may help us become alert to problems before they happen, or take steps to prevent them from occurring. After all, it's stupid to talk about trying to make schools more secure when the shooter is usually someone we expect or demand to be there.
