Re: 0 Days Since Last Shooting: But the Second Amendment!

Show me where I just make crap up then take it back in the next post.

If you're an idiot, you ain't gonna pass any checks or balances for the most part. Since you fail to see (or accept) that, you are as warped as the Banz The Gunz crowd, and I have no more interest in dealing with you. Until you come up with a feasible realistic solution, slash compromise to the gun thing, I'm done with you.

Lol so all idiots are mentally incompetent in the eyes of the law or criminals? And *I* am the one that's warped?

Re: 0 Days Since Last Shooting: But the Second Amendment!

I bet you're good at Twister.

Uh huh, because I'm the one that said these:

You can eliminate the idiots from owning guns, for the most part.

I've mentioned mental health tests, any criminal activity (less than a felony, I submit any violent crime, including domestic) prevents ownership, full background checks on ANY sale...

I can clearly see how I'm twisting your words

Re: 0 Days Since Last Shooting: But the Second Amendment!

Wrong. If the gun owner had taken responsible measures with said gun, this wouldn't have happened. Think this through.

If, if, if, if.

You keep expecting a lot of things to happen that just aren't happening. Won't be happening. A large number of gun owners in this country have demonstrated that they can't be trusted to be responsible with their weapons.

So, what's your solution?

Re: 0 Days Since Last Shooting: But the Second Amendment!

JFC, you guys are arguing semantics. If there is no gun there is no shooting. If there isn't a dumb*** leaving it where a 7 year old has access, there is no shooting.

But there's always a dumb**** leaving it where a 7YO can have access.

So what's the solution?

Re: 0 Days Since Last Shooting: But the Second Amendment!

^^^^^
IF you are responsible, sane, clean criminal record, etc etc, have a gun. Go for it. No worries, because you are not going to go shoot up a school, or leave it around for some kid to shoot himself, etc etc.

Until you do.

Re: 0 Days Since Last Shooting: But the Second Amendment!

There have been solutions mentioned here, but they are not solutions YOU agree with, therefore they are not solutions in your eyes.

No, solutions you think are brilliant and will work, and at least three or four other people here have already questioned.

You say you can keep guns out of the hands of idiots by mental health testing.

Just so you're aware, not all idiots have mental health issues. In fact, most of them do not. So mental health testing will do nothing to keep guns out of the hands of idiots. It may help keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill, but even Drew, who's on your side, puts limits and draws the line on just how far he'll go in that area.

So again, how do you keep guns out of the hands of idiots?

Re: 0 Days Since Last Shooting: But the Second Amendment!

See, I'm a safe driver(hypothetically :D). I obey all the traffic laws, I keep my vehicle scrupulously maintained mechanically, I drive defensively, signal turns, everything. I will never get into a motor vehicle accident.

Until I do.

That's your gun safety argument. Nothing will ever go wrong if everyone's responsible.

So the answer is simple. Get rid of all automobiles. We can't have car accidents or vehicular manslaughter if no one can own an automobile.

Re: 0 Days Since Last Shooting: But the Second Amendment!

You get rid of cars, and only criminals will have cars.

Guns are not equal to cars. If you want to make them equal fine. Get rid of both, or force guns to have the same laws as cars.

1. License to use a firearm. (drivers license)
2. License for every firearm (tabs)
3. Liability Insurance (this isn't a new idea for guns, it's out there already).

Either or works for me. I don't "need" a car if it also means giving up the carnage.

Analogies like that are so, well, stupid.

A car is supposed to move you from A to B. There are accidents and incidents where people die.

A guns is supposed to kill whatever you are shooting at. The INTENTION is that people die. Accidents also happen where people die.

But the intention of each tool is completely different.

Come up with a better argument, already. That one is far to easy to poke holes into.

Regardless of the point of treating guns like cars in terms of licencing, safety, etc- that would go a long way.

You regurgitate NRA talking points even better than Dana Loesch.

Re: 0 Days Since Last Shooting: But the Second Amendment!

If you really want to make gun owners responsible, state that should any murder be committed with a weapon by a person having the same legal residence as the registered gun owner, that the registered gun owner can be held accountable for aiding and abetting in the homicide(s), unless that weapon is reported stolen to the police at least 48 hours prior its commission in the crime. You will find a lot of gun owners become much better caretakers of the weapons in their possession.
