The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
They already have up on the web site a preliminary roster for 2025-26. 12 players listed, plus their five transfers and five incoming freshmen not yet listed. So a roster of 22. They have some room for another couple transfers, if they were to choose. Only two goalies right now, if I'm not mistaken.
This strikes me as a bit of an odd question. But OK...
First, two of the six incoming freshmen have an older sister on the roster, and have been to games at LaBahn numerous times. So they probably don't need much acclimating.
Beyond that, I know there used to be a 'mentoring' arrangement...
... and the portal only "closes" to undergrad transfers. Any player who is graduating in May and still has eligibility may enter the portal before, during, or after the undergrad entry "window". Likewise, any player experiencing a coaching change may enter outside the "window". The undergrad...
Gopher (and Finnish national team) defender Krista Parkkonen in the portal. One year at Minn after two years at Vermont; one year of eligibility remaining.
Adding: ... and forward Lauren O'Hara
That makes seven total from the 2024-25 roster into the portal (plus six who graduated, pending a...
Starting with a large roster of 27 for 2024-25, Minnesota is losing 11 or 12 (depending on what Abbey Murphy does) through graduation and the portal, with an incoming class of six. That puts them at 21 or 22, before portal 'acquisitions'. Three from the portal now makes it 24 or 25 for next...
Sarah Paul would bump up against her five-year clock at the end of 2025-26, absent any other consideration. But having played only seven games in 2021-22 and missing 22-23 altogether, it is VERY likely she'd get an extension of that, such that she'd have two years eligibility remaining.
The...
Eden and Picard, if they wanted to transfer, would be able to as grad transfers. So 'the portal closing' in another week doesn't really mean anything. The real deadline for Eden (and Abbey Murphy) is May 8, the deadline for players to declare for the PWHL draft.
Every incoming freshman looks like an All-American on paper when the coach talks about her, at all schools; but Ohio State's freshmen class really is an impressive looking group. They're likely to largely rely as a team in 2025-26 on the success of that class and those freshmen; five returning...
OSU has two transferring out, St Martin and Secreto.
---------------
Minn has five transferring out; the one spreadsheet that has been quicker about putting up 'transferring to' info shows only two transferring in. Are there more know that I'm forgetting?
I'm glad Canada was able to get it to OT, because the penalty call that got US to the 5-on-3 was really not a good call, IMO. What was Stacey supposed to do? Frankel was all the way out to the faceoff dot.
Remember that Vasseur is at least listed as being from Oregon, WI. (confusing about where she played high school, and whether had moved to Oregon 'recently', etc.) So it might be a reasonable assumption that she's been a walk-on 'local', and the switchover from scholarship limits to roster...
If both Eden and Picard are coming back, aren't we already at a roster of 26? Isn't that the limit set by the House v NCAA settlement (assuming it becomes final by September)?

(Adding that the judge recently expressed "concern" about current scholarship players possibly being...
In the sort-of "no news is good news" category, "nothing unusual is good news" here: MJ's contract was extended by one year, to now run through the 2029-30 season.
It is standard procedure for UW coaches to have five-year contracts, and have those contracts extended once a year to stay at a...
At one point, if there were 2 1/2 team. Wisconsin was the 1/2. Duluth and the Gophers. North Dakota rose some, Duluth fell, and has come back a little. Ohio State has risen. That's the point. Teams come and go, and there's no real telling over a, say, five year period which way it will go...
Unless 'they' are being very slow updating their web site lists - and they have added names for Friday to the men's lists - only four names were added to the portal lists this week.
