Transfer Portal 2025

Gopher (and Finnish national team) defender Krista Parkkonen in the portal. One year at Minn after two years at Vermont; one year of eligibility remaining.

Adding: ... and forward Lauren O'Hara

That makes seven total from the 2024-25 roster into the portal (plus six who graduated, pending a decision from Abbey Murphy). That's a lot of turnover.
Frosty swinging the ax. The tunneler faithful wanted turnover, they're going to get it.

We're getting something. Be careful what you wish for.

Emma Conner to BC per Twitter
You got a good human being and I hope she does well for BC. Her father once swore up and down about how they bleed maroon (technically, I suppose we all do) and how Emma was committed for life to the Gophers. That was after Emily Z. joined OhSU.

It says something about the condition of UM recruiting that you can have that many leaving for the portal and not lose a ton of shifts. Vetter is the biggest loss in terms of stats, Connor might be the biggest in terms of obvious impact. As for Connor bleeding maroon, it's not like she'll need to change colors.

Has Vetter been picked up?

... and the portal only "closes" to undergrad transfers. Any player who is graduating in May and still has eligibility may enter the portal before, during, or after the undergrad entry "window". Likewise, any player experiencing a coaching change may enter outside the "window". The undergrad "window" closes after this coming Tuesday, the 29th. I'm sure there is some deadline later into summer when such grad transfers must declare, but I don't know when that is.

LOL.

Double-checking myself, I discover that starting with 2024-25 - this year - all grad transfers (in winter sports) now have a May 1st portal deadline. Two whole days longer than the undergrad deadline.

Being from Wisconsin myself, I know what "tight" means. Inebriated or intoxicated. I can believe you.
I don't know if you're familiar with my story, I've told it many times, but when the world juniors were in Madison, my eldest son and I went to see games one night, I believe Canada played for sure, anyway, we were sitting up in the top row and Frosty sat down next to us like 5 ft away. You could just feel that connection.

My brother and I used to see the mens WCHA playoffs in St. Paul every year. One night we saw Doug Woog not far from us, taking notes on the team he would lose to the next night. I turned to my brother and said "do you know the sound of a Gopher player choking on a puck? WOOOOGGGG! The next night, after the expected collapse, we walked out of the Civic Center going "Woooogggg'. Hilarious! A wonder we weren't pounced on by disappointed Gopher fans. Sitting near Doug Woog never established a connection for me. Good to hear that you and Frosty can imbibe the thinner together. Explains a lot.

While we sat there, I was loudly pointing out future Badgers playing for team Canada to my son so Frosty would hear me LOL. For some reason he didn't come back for the third.
