Went and saw Toto the other night. Fantastic show, Lukather is a great guitarist and can still sing. They had a couple young guns playing with them along with Keith Carlock on drums. Govt Mule on Friday with Joe Bonamassa.

Folklore-Evermore-Midnights-TTPD (deluxe) is such a gut punch run, with Midnights and TTPD having a few "why is this such a bop for being so dark?" songs on them.
 
For those interested, Disney+ / Hulu is airing two channels of live stream and tape delayed programming from Lollapalooza 2026 from Grant Park in Chicago.

Upside, better view than being there live, no port-a-potties, no being caked in mud from the inevitable rain storm that rolls through.
 
Govt Mule and Joe Bonamassa last night. Warren Haynes rules, crowd loved him and his jam band. Bonamassa was loud, his band put on a show also. Going to every show I can as pretty soon all we will have are reruns of Lawrence Welk. Next show, if ticket prices come down and they will looking at how many tickets are available, Devo and Billy Idol

Saw these guys in 1989, the big seven-piece trad Irish band on the tour for their Fisherman's Blues album. That album took two years to record, and during that time, bandleader Mike Scott had moved from England to Ireland and had been immersing himself in traditional Irish and Scottish music, sitting in with local musicians at pubs and dance halls around the country. So while half of the album was sorta rock oriented, it was played with acoustic guitars, fiddles, accordions, tin whistles, what have you. And the other half of the album reflected that traditional Irish music sound. They played much of what came to make up this album that night. That show is still the third greatest live show I've ever seen. The night I fell in love with Sharon Shannon.

So then they did this followup. Even more steeped in folkier, trad Irish arrangements and songwriting. So I bought tickets for this tour in 1990, hoping to replicate that experience again. Alas, not to be. Fiddler Steve Wickham had quit the band, and rather than play this music without him, Scott elected to dissolve the big Irish band and go out as a rock four piece. Needless to say, I was immensely disappointed. But this album is amazing.

This is a song they did the next night, we didn't get this one. This is part of the splendid box set that came out a few years ago, that chronicled the recordings of that seven piece band over the two years they were together. In Irish dance halls, tour buses, hotel rooms. concert halls around the world.

I didn't know they were doing two nights, or I would have bought tickets for both. And they played the night before at UMass Amherst, and I should have gotten a ticket for that as well. The old pre-internet days, where it was impossible to find out anything.

Ahh, but we got Pagan Place. Probably 20 years ago, a friend let me copy a cassette he had come across of the show that I was at. It was sped up, who knows how many generations this recording had passed through, and there was a huge gap during Pagan Place where the original recorder had to flip the tape. I put it in my computer, opened Cool Edit, fixed the speed(it still might be a bit fast) and did a little copy and paste to cover over the gap. Uploaded it to a bittorent site, which is probably where this guy got it from. Last song before the encores.
