World Soccer XXXI: Golden Generation?

Suspended in Philly due to lightning.
Fascinating that FIFA is actually following US Soccer’s policy of no visible lightning for 30 minutes. Fully expected FIFA to just try to get out there ASAP.

Though undoubtedly some of the foreign (*cough* UK) media will be confused about the process.

Does the rest of the world think lightning isn't dangerous?

I don’t know for sure but a lot of people were confused last year during the Club World Cup with lightning delays.

Sounds like Norway-Senegal at MetLife Stadium might not kick off as that area is under even worse weather conditions for a longer time than Philly is.

Given that the stands are 80% empty and there are no players on the pitch, I'm going to guess the game is still delayed....

Fox is rebroadcasting the USMNT-AUS game during the delay.

No rain in New Jersey, so both Senegal and Norway are warming up.

3-0 the final. This half flew by. It's almost like soccer flows better when it isn't interrupted for commercial breaks...

From an historical perspective, France playing in the colonial capital on Independence Day would be appropriate.

Haaland scores. He has scored in 12 consecutive games for Norway. 58 goals in 52 appearances.
NOR 2 - 0 SEN
Haaland 48'

Norway row the boat across the finish line to win 3-2. France lead the group based on goal differential.
Norway v France on Friday
Both teams have advanced to the knockouts.

JOR 1 - 0 ALG 36'
That was a nice setup. Would have been easy to get caught up in the moment but they kept their composure and got the goal.

Santa Clara looks beautiful tonight
