USCHO Music: From Queen to The Beatles to Lady Gaga

Unexpected concert of the week - friend's birthday is tomorrow and the new "Rock N Brews" venue in Royal Oak recently opened (with Gene Simmons whoring himself out as usual). Anyway, local darlings Sponge are playing and he wants to go. I had no expectation of seeing them, so I'm looking forward to it.

When I woke up (but mumbley)

I have karaoke'd the hell out of that song to the point that a - I assume drunk - woman once insisted I was Vinnie.

Beautiful performance. I cried.

Twas a good show. 3 of Vinnie's sons are now old enough to have bands of their own, so in a bit of nepotism they were the openers. To his credit, the oldest kid is a rather good lead guitarist.

During Sponge's set, he told a brief story about the time they were asked to open for Kiss at Tiger Stadium in 1996 in front of 40000 people. It was originally supposed to be STP, but Scott Weiland had to make his first big public trip to rehab, so they were the backfill. AIC was also on the bill and I guess Layne got up on the stage, saw everyone dressed up like Kiss, and commented, "How come none of y'all are dressed like Alice in Chains?"
