DEL is a professional hockey league in Germany. Good to see Tom Larkin and the Spink twins are playing together again! Also good to see that Ben Raymond and Alex DiPaolo are still playing together in Maine. By the way, the Maine Mariners are affilated with the Boston Bruins!What’s DEL Iowa?
And as for tonight, we earned another 3 points in the standings with a 2-1 win over RPI. We scored the go-ahead goal in the 3rd period, then successfully killed a 5 minute major penalty. Then RPI pulled the goalie with 2 and a half minutes remaining and we were able to successfully defend the 6 on 5.

I was very impressed by the penalty kill on the five minute major. I don’t think RPI had a single quality chance; it seemed like no shots at all. Obviously, that was the turning point in the game.
Huge opportunity tonight. Make it a clean two weekend sweep at home. And beat a quality opponent.

Reid Dyck led Colgate out onto the ice for tonight’s pre-game warmup. Andrew Takacs and Nick Haas are also in gear. Cameron Korpi did the same for Union.
Miscue by Union defenseman results in goal by Easton Wainwright. Unassisted.
Great team effort by Colgate 23 seconds later resulted in a goal by Robby Newton from Owen Neuharth.
Game is talent SNY which means two timeouts per period.
And good teamwork by Union resulted in them getting on the scoreboard.

We are letting them back into the game.

If there was ever a game where both combatants deserved a draw, me thinks tonight’s contest was it. Shots on goal were close (36-34 Union). Penalties were close (5-3 Union). Both teams had opportunities where the net appeared to be wide open and they just couldn’t put it home.

Fair assessment, per usual, by IBT...it did appear from the reaction of the Colgate player and Coach Harder that the icing call - with 3 1/2 minutes to play - was a bad one...seconds later it's 4-4...frankly I don't know if I like the SO approach...why not simply accord 1.5 points to each team if no one wins in ot...still a curious team to evaluate...IMO we need Nagel back soon as our overall speed and skill at the forward position is OK, but not great...fourth line continues to play solid minutes and the two seniors on that line have become important contributors to the team...good for Newton and Neuharth...they stayed the course and deserve an accolade...it would be a great Thanksgiving to get a split in East Lansing...
I don't think they'll be #1 after getting swept at home by Wisconsin. We will have a difficult test coming up.#1 team in the country, yikes !

Thanks to SNY I saw my first Raider game this season. A gritty affair with open chances for both teams. I'm impressed by the talent and stick handling of our team (and Union as well). Having not been in person for games lately it has been difficult assessing our team and how they have progressed as a unit over the past two seasons. On to Mich State and hopefully we take at least one from them. (From an Oldtimer who can't drive at night)

First, I had a hard time getting a single ticket for tonight’s game and Friday’s game (and that was calling less than 24 hours after they went on sale). Consequently, my seat tonight was down by the glass, in one corner, which I hated. I guess my depth perception isn’t great.
Second, we knew our non-conference away schedule was crazy this year. But, I truly think that it is a good thingee. We need to see more ultra-high-quality hockey, not less. Hopefully we learn from it. And hopefully this whole Thanksgiving week is a bonding experience. Both of those things can pay dividends later, this year and in future years.
Third, I honestly think Michigan State is more talented and more deadly than either Boston University or Maine. The guy with the puck is rarely the one about whom you need to be the most concerned. Just ask Reid Dyck. And my guess is that, throughout the season, Michigan State will have relatively few unassisted goals.
Fourth, Happy Thanksgiving to one and all. As always, I am very thankful for the Colgate men’s ice hockey program. And this year, in particular, I am thankful for our tough non-conference schedule, home and away. As a fan of college hockey, it is very entertaining. As for the team, hopefully it is equally enlightening. ‘Night.
