UMass Lowell 2025-2026: Youth will be served

congrats to nate misskey on the first collegiate goal!! i predicted this was happening oddly enough… there’s another defenseman the sharks drafted from the WHL 2 picks before him who got his first college goal friday, i figured misskey was due next

Why are they injured Scott any information? You're the guy with the connections?
i don’t have any actual connections, but at least in Tnias’ case he has a fairly significant injury history so i wouldn’t be surprised if it’s that. he was playing well from what i saw

Well, what does everybody have to say now after a convincing win versus a quality Providence team.
Lol I'll gladly eat my words about this team any time they prove me wrong. The inconsistency needs to end before they get into the thick of conference play.

Peter Schlittenhardt should be fined and suspended for the horrendous "mistake" he made when announcing Mirko's misconduct last night. The fact that he knew it was the wrong description and still chose to describe it publicly to the arena as a "racial remark" is the most egregious thing I've ever seen from an official at any level. That's a false accusation that could've gotten the kid kicked off the team, kicked out of the university, and ruined his entire hockey career.

When are we, the paying fans, going to get some accountability from Steve Metcalf's traveling circus that is the Hockey East officiating crew? Not only do we have to endure inconsistent and at times downright atrocious on-ice officiating every year, but now we have to worry about them making false statements that could destroy a player's reputation while making routine announcements throughout the game? These officials are tasked with calling games for one of the top three conferences at the highest level of college hockey in the world, not 7:00 AM PeeWee games on Sundays at Hockeytown in Saugus.

Thank you both for your comments. You're both spot on. Throwing out "racial slur" created a major reaction amongst the fans, myself included. As a POC, I don't ever want to have anyone representing my school/team/whatever that does something like that. And the only way we find out it wasn't is because they mentioned it on TV and I have friends that texted me about it.

But at the end of the day, whatever he said isn't acceptable either obviously. I still expect better from our players.

For the game itself, a huge win for the team. Much needed as we only have two home games this entire month of November. Elliott continues to impress me, he just seems so calm back there. Still some horrible defensive giveaways in their own zone. 3 goals scored on special teams (2 PP, 1 SH) and one EN. I'd still like to see the 5-on-5 be more productive, but for now, I'm just happy with the W.

I mean... even if it wasn't racial it was probably homophobic or something. DQ for 79.3 is either the n word, f word, or r word...

Doesn't change the fact that Schlittenhardt made a false statement and neglected to publicly correct it for what was actually said. If a coach, player, or administrator made a false public statement about an on-ice official they would be disciplined.

Agreed. As I noted, whatever it was isn't acceptable. Call me "woke" but none of those words are acceptable anymore.

I do expect a league (or team) suspension. Coach Bazin says it will be addressed, from a CHN article:
“It wasn’t racial. I want to make that clear," Bazin said. "It shouldn’t have been announced that way, and that has no place in our society. It will be addressed. The referee came and apologized because it wasn’t the proper description. In any event, that’s important to say.”

I'm not going to make assumptions until the conference provides full transparency of what was said. Which won't happen. They should've already done it, but Supreme Leader Metcalf refuses to provide any transparency about anything, which is what leads to assumptions being made. They could've handled this in less than a day, but here we are.

Yeah, I feel like if it hasn't been addressed already, it's not going to happen at this point. Missteps all around.

From College Hockey Insider, "Rule 79.3 also covers other “profane, threatening, vulgar, or derogatory remarks” related to race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and other protected groups."

So even if it wasn't a racial slur, can't possibly be good. Wonder if he'll face additional punishment from either the league or Norm

Big weekend coming up against UNH. The Hawks have struggled with the Wildcats over past couple of years, only 1 win in the last 7 games. Hopefully they can carry over Saturday's night performance to this weekend, Time for some consistency.

UML continues to be without Mathurin and freshman forward Diego Buttazzoni due to injuries.

Bazin said sophomore defenseman Daniel Buchbinder, who was injured during one of his first shifts in the season opener against Merrimack, will not return this season.

That's awful news for Buchbinder, who I had hoped would take a big step forward this year. And interesting that there's still no comment about Mirko Buttazzoni. I have no idea if we will see him tonight, but I'd still guess not.
