Utica University 2025-26 - The Road (back) To Utica

wow didnt know that was Kosher????
It's a relatively new development. There is a D1 signing of a player who played a whole freaking year of pro.

I kind of understand the reasoning. If you are getting paid NIL money, what's the difference if you got paid by a pro team (and they are letting CHL players in)? But, having said that, it's gotten totally out of hand. (And I'm on record saying NIL was inevitable and I was all for it.)

So if I am hearing you right....a kid can play a few yrs in college then give the pros,ECHL/AHL a chance and if no dice come back to college hockey?????

if they made below a certain amount of money.....yes. I believe its the same verbage as the chl players theyre still using the language "as long as they have not been compensated beyond "actual and necessary expenses"". And the NCAA elgibility center has to go through and certify the players case. It is also worth noting the 2 guys bemidji state signed only played major junior and u sports no prior ncaa experience, so not sure how how things will work out with guys who do have prior ncaa experience. Some more research suggests that the ncaa is now following some u sports rule that allows guys to come back if they played less than a seaon of pro, although thats more speculation/educated geussing rather than confirmed rules.

Any eligibility left Bak? You could caome back as a 5th year senior as long as you are enrolled. Try out, make the team and get an NIL deal with Oswego Subs

LOL. They haven't changed the five-year running clock once you enroll. So, that fifth year expired for poor Bak a long, long time ago.

UC ... oh, I mean UU ... fans are always so touchy.

It was obvious to anyone with a few brain cells that you were merely emphasizing the pressure Utica is under to win now that they have six D1 recruits. They have no excuses. (Not to mention, it would be obvious to anyone with a few brain cells that you are fully aware of Oswego bringing in D1 transfers in the past, so it's not like you are against it.)
We wouldn't be so touchy if this program thread wasn't so fascinating to you trolls... Pour another one and think about that.

And, there's no groundswell of pressure here, for the love of Christ. (News flash: nobody gives a shit about D-3 hockey, aside from a very few of us on this old forum. Ask 100 people on any street who is the defending champion, and 101 of them would have absolutely no semblance of a clue.)

Utica wins every year, reloads every when it has to, has brought in plenty of D-1 washouts, and some of them became D-3 All-Americans... And why not. When an upgrade is available, it would be stupid to pass it up. This has been going on for many years. Don't try to make it some BS moral issue,

If there's no pressure, then why do some schools spend a lot of relative money and resources on their hockey program? And though it's rare in D3, why do some schools fire their hockey coaches for poor performance? And some folks, especially someone like Heenan, put pressure on themselves to succeed. Get with the program.

And I'm not the one making any sort of moral issue out of it, nimrod. In fact, I'm defending Utica for doing this. But reading comprehension has never been your strong point.

I think I may have 1 semester left of eligablilty, but I don't think Eddie would give me much ice time at this point:):):):):), I would get more ice in my booze, not that there is anything wrong with that....

Guess I'd have to budget the time to read it in the first case, right?

But, yeah, almost no one (you are most certainly included in that crew) comes to the Utica thread to do anything but troll, criticize, and spew bullshit.

That's a fact, Jack. Guess you could start a thread?
agree, but it's fun to get Fish going..... :p :p :p ...ya know since no Remi...RIP
I miss Remy, too. That guy was a complete frothing-at-the-mouth Platty nutcase, but he was good people. His posts were lengthy enough to make Tolstoy proud (and I skimmed over 95% of them), but his heart was in the right place.
