USCHO Music: From Queen to The Beatles to Lady Gaga

Something I noticed recently - many of the late 80s/early 90s debut or breakthrough grunge albums are chock full of the heavy reverb effect common to 80s music (both pop and alternative). But by the time you get to 1993 the reverb is almost all gone and the overall production/engineering, while usually still very "wet" (commercial-friendly), is much cleaner and simpler.

Taylor Swift has a new album coming out soon called "The Life of a Showgirl."
Honestly, that might be the most candid interview Taylor has ever done. Jason Kelce got the kind of interview with Taylor Swift that nearly every journalist in the world would kill for.

So, Cake was a fabulous concert. There was no opening act, instead they played two sets with a 15m intermission. John is 61, but still puts in a good effort at crowd engagement.

KISS will be honored at the Kennedy Center by Donald J. Dump. I'm so happy I figured out long ago to separate the art from the people performing it. It allows me to still enjoy a Woody Allen movie, and a KISS album from time to time.

From what I hear The Warning have pretty conservative viewpoints as well. I don't care, I love the art.

The Kennedy Center Honors will never top Ann and Nancy Wilson (along with a bunch of others that they gathered to add to the performance including Bonham's son on Drums) performing Stairway to Heaven with Led Zeppelin in the audience.

I used to be able to do this, and generally still can, but there's a few artists who've forced their unsavory personal views on fans to a level where I've just made the decision to cut their toxicity out of my playlists. Ted Nugent being the prime example.

Is Simmons a bad man, or just a whore? My impression is he has never once strayed from his pole star: accumulating as much obscene wealth as he possibly can in one lifetime. He's Unattractive* Mick Jagger, or Talented Paul McCartney.

* No! Do not even.

Yeah but Nugent is easy, he always sucked.

Hetfield is tougher. Clapton and Morrisey are sort of tough, although holy shit overrated. Rick James (bitch!) is seriously difficult -- he was a very, very bad person. Biggie was honestly a serious POS, too. Still a genius, yes. But woah.

Maybe let's not talk about Phil Spector...

Fair.

Clapton is ungodly overrated. I will tear out my own eardrums if I have to listen to "Wonderful Tonight" one more time.

As for the rest, you know what they say - never meet your heroes. I feel like that's probably all the more true for rockstars.

One song being overplayed has nothing to do with his overall body of work, including being part of some of the most iconic bands ever
