Wisconsin Women's Hockey 2025-2026

It screws us fans who get to see our stars play 6 less games for whoever's team.
Bleav in MJ. He turns adversity like this into teachable moments and invites the whole roster to embrace the "opportunity" and use it to get better. During this period, we'll get to see what players who usually get limited ice time can do. When the "stars" return, they'll have tested themselves against better competition than the WCHA can offer. Slipping a few spots in the conference standings or the PWR won't mean anything once the playoffs arrive.

Of course MJ will manage the Olympics like a champ, that is not my point. The League is denying us fans 6 games of us seeing our stars play in the cardinal and white. Also, don't kid yourself that KK, Simms or Edwards missing out on 8 to 12 points won't affect them in the pk race, it surely will. It will open the door for some Eastern player to win it.

You poor lad! Let me play my tiny violin for you, to sooth your damaged soul. Those Eastern rascals! Stealing puffs of victory and glory.

If by "pk" you are referring to the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award, I thought that was an all round award not driven by individual points. It's voted on by a committee which might be influenced by them being good enough to play in the olympics. It doesn't seem like it would hurt them in that regard.

All the ladies have all the nice outside of hockey things they do, so points is the biggest differentiator.

Winning the Natty is all there is. Everything else is a participation trophy.
Can't agree with you there. Winning the WCHA Conference is a big deal, and so is winning the WCHA Tournament. Those two mean a lot to the team and to the players (and to me as a fan!). Not as important as the Natty, of course, but still a huge reward for a remarkable season.

I know y'all are right on the Natty thing, my disposition is just a bit salty right now. My insurance is screwing me (and everyone I talk to) over bigtime. Because my house/siding/roof is 18 years old, I don't get full replacement value on the siding and shingles, they depreciate it. Any siding or roof 10 years older or newer, they cover 100%. They are projecting that it's $40,000 to replace it and they are giving me $17,000 after they take off the deductible. I'm a logical guy, I understand on the roof, but vinyl siding has a useful life that far exceeds an asphalt roof. And of course, they won't replace all the siding, just the stuff on the south and west sides of the house, so in all likelihood, I will have color mismatched siding on the house, so when I go to sell it in 10 years and move to a lake to retire, I'll get pinched by the buyer on that. There's a farmer outside of town whose barn was levelled and house heavily damaged that are over 100 years old and they are getting practically nothing. They also have no income either because they can't milk. I tell this tale as a cautionary tale to any home owners out there, add a rider to your home owner's policy to get full replacement cost for hail/wind damage no matter what the age of the siding/windows/doors/roof. I do have a rider that if the place is leveled that we get full replacement cost for the building and contents, but not for wind/hail damage. It just sucks to think you have insurance to cover something like this, but in the end I have to come up with $23,000ish to effect replacement.

Timothy A., I'm so sorry to hear about your property insurance. These companies jumped on the greedy wagon a few years ago and have no reason to improve. Perhaps it is some consolation to know that in many places, property damage insurance is completely unavailable. The companies won't sell any property insurance coverage at any cost (due mostly to the increase in the number of natural disasters). I suspect that as more and more major storms roar across Wisconsin, insurance may become hard to get. A friend of mine who lives in a condo development tells me that their group insurance went up something like 400% in two years, so the trend is already starting.

FWIW: there was a hail storm a dozen years ago - 2012, maybe? - when my car had something around $5,000 worth of damage. LOTS of others with vehicle damage, as well. Insurance (GEIKO) covered it with pretty much 'no questions asked'. Difference between auto insurance and home insurance?

Going through same thing. Never had a claim and annual premium just went up 36%. Replacement costs are skyrocketing because of labor rates and material costs

Progressive's auto insurance is great and run by them. They farmed their home owners insurance to Homeside, who also happens to run State Farm's. The adjuster who did our house was from State Farm.
