2026 Elections: To the Midterms and Beyond!

There's a Vogue cover that I saw on Instagram with Mamdani, Obama, El Sayed and Osoff and OMG. It's totally AI but man if it was real, Vogue's sales would skyrocket.

Reporters talked with the Independent that also ran in that Mississippi race, and the Independent was a black Republican who figured "one way or another we'll get a black congressman in her seat," and he actively campaigned in non-Black, heavy Republican areas to siphon votes from her with disgruntled Republicans who didn't want to vote for a Democrat.

Peltola campaign with a "don't believe the bullshit, we're winning this" post.

For the first time ever - Colorado Springs + El Paso county elected a Dem for the house.

The Springs was the last place I lived in the US, so I still get to vote there. Happy to have played a small part in the transition from deep red to more and more blue.

Was just watching a piece on CNN saying part of why Jared Golden stepped down is because of how uncomfortable far left/DSA activists made his and his family’s life over his support of Israel.

Any idea if there is truth to that? If so, I sure hope they like Paul LePage.
Lepage is holding the seat for a young repub, Austin Theriault Who barely lost to Golden 2 years ago. He is a former race car driver in NASCAR and a true magat. Golden has said he was worried about his family safety.

I know you're kidding, but I'll bite. Greenville is lovely in a 'tree-lined Republican streets' sort of way. Charleston has great food but is...less lovely (almost stepped on a used dope rig outside my hotel there years ago).

D Senator or not, I still wouldn't move to SC even if I were paid to. If you want the Charleston historical and food experience without the overhype, I can't recommend Savannah enough - but I would never live there either. The southern Jaw-Ja fetid swamp heat makes Orlando's summer humidity feel tame and tolerable in comparison.

Yeah, I like this guy.

In the news pieces I have found regarding his decision not to run again, he cited hyperpartisanship and vague threats to his family and other pols. Also mentions his older daughter is starting school and how he didn't want her to have to deal with any bullying or nasty comments from classmates or teachers as the daughter of a public official.

He never really specified any of the threats (I guess there was a bomb threat to his home last Thanksgiving?) or which side he thinks they came from, which would be irrelevant regardless as its unacceptable no matter who is doing it. So I'm not sure where CNN is getting the "far left/DSA activists mad about Israel" part of their piece, and I can only assume they're doing what the cable news media does best - try to stir the pot for clicks. Plus let's face it - a lot of media brass are pro-Israel. And no, that's not an antisemitic "JEWS CONTROL THE MEDIA" argument. Mark Thompson, the current CEO of CNN, has been accused of being biased in favor of Israel during his time at the BBC.

After 8 years in Congress, I think he'd just had his fill and was looking for the exit ramp.

Yeah, I like this guy.

So Colom was nominated by Biden to fill a vacant judge position in Mississippi only to have his nomination blocked by…

Cindy Hyde-Smith.

Yeah - who knows right? The CNN piece was just something I had not heard before. And who knows if he would have won again - he just as much could have lost to LePage - although Golden weathered tough re-elections before and the incumbent does usually seem to have at least a little advantage to start off with.
