Boston University Terriers 2026-2027 season…insert clever title here!

well coyle leaving mid year was something like this… and was a true kick in the ass how the culture became a shit show
Charlie decided that he didn’t sign up for this and cleared out….leaving behind clowns and an absent leader.

All great examples of the “should have probably stayed” players. BU history is littered with them. There were also a few that could have gone to play regular NHL minutes by leaving and stayed an extra year or more. Chris Drury, Matt Gilroy, Colin Wilson (2 years) Shawn McEachern (3 years). Tony Amonte (2 years) come to mind. I respect Chris Drury the most for staying all 4 years - what a clutch player. I still can’t believe we lost to Merrimack in 98 and then didn’t get to the FF. I don’t think I’ve ever been more upset about a loss. I had tickets in hand and was so looking forward to the tournament in Boston. I went anyway and at least had the pleasure of seeing BC lose in the final.

No one mentioned the team wearing the classic 80’s/90’s uni’s Saturday. Love that they are getting back into the rotation.

I remember that year very well. Seeing BU lose to Merrimack in was really memorable, the BC loss to Michigan was painful but it signaled the beginning of the golden age of BC hockey. To your other point i really respect any four year player, particularly in this day and age.

The MC loss was a huge upset but they still could have won an NC . Losing to UNH in the regional final. Big choke year in the post season with an absolute loaded team and All American goalie. Lost a 3-1 lead in third period in Regional final and then a shorthanded goal in OT by that two bit bum Mark Mowers.

Four days. If he was born four days earlier he would’ve/could’ve stayed for another year.
That was up to Ricky, no?
Due to this if he had told Milbury that he wasn’t going, they would have drafted someone else.
Certainly suppose the thought of going first overall was hard to pass up though…

This group does feel different. They outshot UConn 50-30 in the loss and came back two days later to win 6-3. Maine twice at home this weekend is a good measuring stick.
That margin was all thanks to the 3rd.
The boys played well then, certainly better than the 1st two periods on Thursday. Which carried over into Saturday.
Hope they learn that if they show that the rest of the way things can be promising 👍🏾

I didn’t even remember we had a 2 goal lead in the 3rd. I knew it was OT. Now I feel worse…

I agree - the feeling is different. Let’s hope the team continues to grow and gel. Could have a better season than everyone thought. Maine will be challenging- I’m glad the games are at home.

The difference, I think, is visible effort, not just obvious skill. This year they feel like they could be overachievers, not ... you know.
I think this is accurate. Not as skilled as years past maybe but willing to put in the work and effort to overcome that. There is still high end talent on this team but I think we got spoiled with Macklin, both Hutsons and even people like Ryan Greene.

Agree with Dave, it's the effort you notice this year. Maine's a real test though. Their PK has killed 18 of 19 and they just shut out Colgate twice. BU's power play will have to earn it. I'd call it a split and be happy with that.
