I hadn't really thought about it, but I think you are right. Gas prices have gotten high enough that if they drop to $3.50, people will be celebrating, oil execs and the gov't will not have a reason to try and get the price back into the $2s.IMO, and I did NOT stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, we're never going to see the number two stand alone in front of the period in gas prices unless we get another global pandemic or we finally nationalize one entire supply chain company from drilling through to refining.
Three bucks is our modern floor. It's what one dollar was to the early aughts.
So, they actually follow through with their threats? No TACO-ing?Houthie's strike Saudi Aramco headquarters today after announcing their intentions yesterday.
Iran has targeted infrastructure across the Gulf Arab countries – in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Iraq, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain. In all, the Islamic Republic has launched at least 135 drone and missile attacks on at least 84 infrastructure sites in the Gulf since the US and Israel launched a bombing campaign against Iran on February 28, Reuters found.
The attacks have spread fear across the Gulf, sent oil prices soaring and helped Iran blunt months of American military pressure. Coupled with the Islamic Republic’s blockade on the Strait of Hormuz, the ability to launch precision attacks creates an enduring threat to its Gulf Arab neighbors and gives Iran huge sway over the global economy and leverage in its peace negotiations with the US.
Some targets are hidden beneath rooftops and sunshades, invisible from space. Others span just a few meters. Many have purposes not immediately obvious to anyone without expertise in fields like oil refining, nuclear technology or smelting.
Without visiting the sites, Reuters could not always determine how successful Gulf air defenses were or the full extent of the damage. But time and again, Reuters found, the Iranian strikes were precise and the equipment struck was vital.
Ryan Stevens, a former US Marine Corps special operations airstrike coordinator who reviewed Reuters’ findings, said Iran’s strikes showed “precision, targeting expertise, and patience.”
Is that the one thing that brings in other western militaries to defend Iran? I'd be pretty sure that Western Europe has ICBM defenses. Although that's not useful if it's delivered via B2 or Tomahawk, which I would figure that would be preferred for a "tactical" strike. The only way this ends in US "victory" is nuking the hell out of multiple Iranian cities and basically turning the whole country into plate glass. I wouldn't put it past Donnie Dumbfuck to possibly take us down that road. Mattis isn't there to slap Dump's hand away from the football anymore and instead Kegsbreath, whose pastor believes in End Times/Armageddon prophecies, is whispering in his ear. The only thing holding Dump back now is his own cowardice about nukes.
Hold on, did you think Israel was going to lift a finger to defend Bahrain, the UAE, or Saudi Arabia? So, that military we've been feeding all our blood and treasure into since 1981? The thing that took up all the wealth and focus which otherwise would have improved lives and given exponential growth in productive sectors?
It's getting its ass kicked by some low rent Koran Thumpers.
