TV 20 - Sorry no fancy title

When the show had run out of ideas they were increasingly leaning into Scully's Troubled Faith, and that led to some of this silliness.

Speaking of running out of ideas, my god Ted Lasso 2 is cringe. We bailed about 80% of the way through the first episode. It was worse -- far worse -- than the final season of the first show, and that is a low bar.

Jesus you guys, don't push your money up your nose next time or whyever you wound up hawking this shite.

On the good side, we saw the pilot episode of Monsters: Lizzie Borden and it was excellent.

Widow's Bay. Pilot was good; cast is certainly strong. We'll see. It helps to have seen a lot of haunted sea town mysteries/horror movies, like The Fog, Jaws, or my favorite, Messiah of Evil (if your kids want to understand the 70s, just have them watch this movie). It nails the aesthetic while also being good satire.

Oh, and we finished the first season of the Ricky Gervais show Alley Cats. A weird, wonderful little show of just six 18-minute episodes. Dr. Mrs. & I loved it.

Do you think it's a comedy though?

SNL was meh. Update was good. The guest was good. The music act was terrible but they are supposed to be.

The post-Update skits were execrable, as is tradition. The opener was bad and the monologue was meh. So basically the 2-4 skits and Update carried the show.

High Value Target: The Hunt for Saddam Hussein.

The series is interesting enough although I think they could have cut it down by an episode or 2. But the main reason I'm commenting is that after seeing the first scene in which they being to interrogate him after his capture it sent me down a rabbit hole to see what has been released about it.

While there are no full transcripts there are about 25 detailed summaries of these meetings here.

And of course the biggest lesson (reinforcement?) from all of this is the U.S. needs to stfu about 95% of what happens outside our borders and leave the rest of the world alone.

Had we listened to what Saddam had offered up intelligence wise the Middle East might look be in a far better place collectively and in particular Iran and its agents of terrorism.

Fun fact: Dr. Mrs. is friends with one of the chief handlers who "debriefed" Hussein from the time he was captured to the time he was turned over for trial. He talked to him every day, established a relationship, and got tons of intel from him. So my Erdos number with Saddam Hussein is 3.

SNL E2 much better than E1. Not perfect (Sarah's W/E dating bit, the GoT bit) but better overall including Mikey Day's killing it as the Zelda character on W/E.

Also happy to see Turnstile get to perform on such a large stage.

I thought it was bad. The guest was boring and talentless; apparently she's double nepo.

Update was good. You're right, Day was the highlight of the show.

I'd never heard of Turnstile. They slapped on that first song. Dudes look 23 they're late 30s.

She's never been in anything good and she's been awful in everything she's been in. Can't act for shit. But yes better musical guests than last week's low rent escorts.
