Wisconsin Badgers '26-'27 season: Finishing what we started

The attendance would be better if they didn't schedule these horrible teams. I moved to Madison 4 years ago, so I've casually rooted for the badgers since being here, but I'm not a die hard. Why would I spend my Friday or Saturday night going to watch them beat up Robert Morris?

I think you explained it. You’re not a diehard fan.

Any chance to see a team this good should be taken imo. But I also I think the university is dropping the ball on promotion.

Back in the coliseum days, at least from 85 to about 95-96, I don’t ever recall the building being less than sold-out from the opening game no matter who they were playing.

Maybe it takes time to generate new diehards because the team has been mostly average since then?? I mean last night’s crowd was really thin outside of the crease creatures.

Football may be finding that out as well.

Yeah I agree with what you said. But I also think that pulling in the non-diehards like me is important to improve the attendance. Definitely need more promotion, continued success and all that. But scheduling more exciting teams would help too

D looked pretty solid out of the gate. Can't wait till they get ramped up.

Im sure Hastings wasn't happy with that W.

RMU goalie is 6'6". Have to work to score. He made some incredible saves.

I'm just convinced attendance

My early takeaway from this weekend: (one game in attendance one on tv)

This is the best team I’ve seen in the past few years in terms of defense, and the best goaltending team since McClellan.

On the flip side, this team is the worst at finishing opportunities in recent memory

Because it's your home team and you enjoy the game.

Mildly annoyed at the last goal given up. Gotta be smart and not allow breakaways late in the game.

Happy we started the year off with a W though! :)
I wonder if him giving up that goal open the door for Hauser tonight to start. Nowadays you expect goalies to stop breakaways, unlike 25 years ago when you were pretty much screwed, it seemed like.

Only got one last night, but they generated a lot of opportunities and most importantly they played defense first. Playing solid d will win you a lot of hockey games. It was a good warm-up series. I like it.
