Wisconsin Women's Hockey 2026-27

Coach Dan did the presser today. Ava McN felt fine on Saturday AM and wanted to dress, but they played it safe. He mentioned that Stewart starting game 2 was a possibility going into the weekend anyway. Said the Sappy line was trying to be too creative in game 1, and they played a simpler game in game 2 and it showed. He said Cerruti got a lot of minutes with the D out and played very well.

With the majority of the tickets being reserved this season, I wonder if that will impact the length of the line to get in prior to the doors opening. I'll be switching to the West side entry so we have a shorter walk to section 13. We're also doing the double on Friday and Mads is stoked. I think she loves hockey more than me - which I did not think was possible.
Looking forward to the smells and sounds of the rink.

Good news indeed about McNaughton.

I have booked the hotel for Mankato. Our first away game. (I am not counting a forgettable trip to St. Louis a few years ago. The wife and daughter were not along on that one so it doesn't count.)

Let's go Red!

I got my tickets uploaded for the game one, but when I try to upload the tickets game 2 it says the tickets are already uploaded and takes me to the game one tickets. I presume this will shake itself out once I use the game one tickets. Last year I uploaded all the tickets at one time, so I didn't have to worry about it. It did allow me to upload my Robert Morris men's tickets however.

If it is a season ticket, it's a "magic" auto-updating ticket. As Thursday night turns to Friday morning, the Thursday night ticket will "magically" become the Friday ticket. And then after Friday it will turn into the Mankato first game ticket. It should say "All-In-1" ticket.

Oh yeah, that is what happened last year....

Listened to MJ's portion of the WI Hockey Hour. The 2 notable things I picked up on are he rolled 4 lines all weekend and he slightly downplayed Ava's condition, noting she did not do the full practice Monday and it's a short week with game 1 on Thursday vs Friday or Saturday.

According to Kedrick Stumbris, "Ava Murphy was back on the ice as a full participant. The defender missed Wisconsin's season-opening series at St. Lawrence. Mackenzie Jones, who also missed the first weekend of play, did not practice today."
Any news about Murphy and/or Jones? I didn't hear a question asked about their status(es) for the weekend.

I saw that the first 1,000 through the gate tomorrow get a mini national championship banner.

That's been the "usual" since 2019. After 2009 and 2011, everyone got a souvenir puck. (I was in California for 2006 and 2007, no idea what they might have done.)

Well, here we are, another home season is upon us. My phone is telling me to approach lot 91 from the Capital side, the road that runs past the Monona Terrace must be completely blocked. Last year that was down to 1 lane both ways. I would presume the number of GA tickets sold is not greater than the GA seating capacity. At any rate, we are getting there early early tonight, so that will not be a problem for us if there is a problem to be had. Getting there mega early has me paranoid that we'll beat the parking scanner people and my car will get towed LOL.

Let's go RED!

If this can be trusted - it looks like 3, 4, 5 and 14 are reserved - so again less than they anticipated for the year - but more than last year.

I have not been down there to see it, but the new location for the "Hall of Fame" display is outside the Kohl Center, somewhere to the Lot 91 side of the building. Maybe they're not quite done with that, such that that block of Frances St is not open. (I may have to get there ten minutes earlier than my already early plan, to have a look.)
