TV 20 - Sorry no fancy title

And today, an obligatory guest appearance by Wallace Shawn. Even under all the Ferengi prosthetics and heavy makeup, you can't mistake the voice of "Inconceivable!" for anyone else.

Does anyone here watch Widow's Bay? It's on AppleTV+. I started watching it last week. I heard it was great, saw that it was nominated for several Emmys. I like Matthew Rhys so I decided to give it a whirl. Saw that it was a horror comedy type of show. While I definitely think it's more of a comedy than The Bear is, it's way creepier and weirder than I expected. It also has a Severance feel to it in my opinion. Not enjoying it too much. But, I've made it through six episodes so I'll watch to the end. Let me know your thoughts if you've seen it.
My wife tried watching the series with me. She even suggested it. Well, she made it to the point of the first episode where the mayor is investigating the crawl space and made me stop the show.

See, when we were about two months into dating, we went to see It at the theater. I hadn’t seen any of the reviews, but I knew the basics of the story at the time. The newspaper called it a “psychological thriller”, which made me think the movie had been rewritten from a horror flick. She agreed to see it with me, though I did mention that the book was a pretty gruesome story, so the movie must’ve done a lot of reworking to change the description. I will hear about that movie experience until the Alzheimer’s sets in.

Best of the Trek series. Fight me
I couldn’t get into DS9 when it was released. The show started a black man with the rank of Commander, not Captain. It irked me at the time, and I just haven’t been able to get into it since then. I’m told Commander Sisko eventually became a captain, but I couldn’t get over the show whimping out on giving a black man common ding a space station a lower rank than all the ship captains who were white.

Today marks the 99th anniversary of Philo Farnsworth inventing the television.

"He invented television. I don't mean he invented television like Uncle Milty. I mean he invented the television in a little house in Provo, Utah, at a time when the idea of transmitting moving pictures through the air would be like me saying I figured out a way to beam us aboard the starship Enterprise.
He was a visionary. He died broke and without fanfare. The guy I really like though was his brother-in-law, Cliff Gardner. He said, "Philo, I know everyone thinks you're crazy, but I want to be a part of this. I don't have your head for science, so I'm not going to be able to help much with the design and mechanics of the invention, but it sounds like you're going to need glass tubes."

You see, Philo was inventing the cathode receptor, and even though Cliff didn't know what that meant or how it worked, he'd seen Philo's drawing, and he knew that he was gonna need glass tubes. And since television hadn't been invented yet, it's not like you could get them at the local TV repair shop. "I want to be a part of this," Cliff said. "I don't have your head for science. How would it be if I were to teach myself to be a glass blower? And I could set up a little shop in the backyard. And I could make all the tubes you'll need for testing." There ought to be Congressional Medals for people like that." -- Sam Donovan, Sports Night
