So if the parent does an upgrade, the customer teams have to? Does that count against their upgrade limit? Or am I misunderstanding that statement?
Maybe I misunderstood the original post.

Here's what I meant. If an engine builder improves their engine (either HW or SW), that version must be available to all customers. That's what I was saying.

But you are correct, the customer does not have to change engines if they don't want to (like for the reason you state because of number of engines limits). But the customer must have access to any improvements the factory team gets.
