2026 Elections: To the Midterms and Beyond!

If the Nazi tattoo didn't sink Platner, sexting isn't going to, especially in the age of Trump. He isn't the perfect candidate, but the main alternative was the 200 year-old Mills, and that's a non-starter.

Anyone who votes for Suzie at this point is going to vote for her regardless.
But will democrats just not vote at all? Which can also hurt.

But will democrats just not vote at all? Which can also hurt.

Why would they not vote? "On the one hand is the Hesitant Haggard Handmaiden of the Derp Reich, helping destroy our country, our planet, our future, and our lives and liberties. But on the other hand there's a guy who played hide the sausage outside of normal working hours. Oh, I can't decide!"

A Dem who votes like that is another Useful Idiot like liberals who can't help feeling that the most important thing is all lives matter.

Women who consistently vote for Democrats will care. The regurgitated "thoughts" of Republican women are irrelevant because they are hypocrites with no leg to stand on, seeing who they elected in 2016 and 2024.

That list includes Susan Collins, the opponent of Graham Platner, right?
I've got news for people. Every high office male politician since Cicero had affairs before and during his tenure in office except Hitler, Obama and, probably, Jimmy Carter.

It's time for people to grow up. Cheating on your spouse is a shit thing to do but it's entirely separable from being an executive or legislator. Proximity to power brings out the banquet, and a man is as faithful as his options.

WAGs understand this. The blue noses can too.

I hate it’s a bunch of guys on here having this conversation, but I agree with this take, unless it turns out it wasn’t consensual, which in that case, if he’s not the Democratic nominee for President in 2028, we’re missing a golden opportunity on what the American people want.

Because democratic voters are dumb. How many times do we hear they didn't like the D candidate, so they just refused to vote?

(Normal caveat of VPNMW) - cuz they sure aren't Blue in my state.

Just want to mention that (nearly all of us here) vote from a position of privilege. Give voters someone to vote for if you want their vote.

Just because we're almost universally straight, middle-aged, college-educated, fourth or fifth (or eighth) generation American, white men doesn't mean we're privileged!

I don’t disagree at all, thus my caveat of hating that its men having this conversation, mostly, if not all, educated white men…I mean we’re all fucking college hockey fans, which, if that isn’t one of the whitest, rich people sports outside of lacrosse… anyways I digress.

Black women vote what, 93-95% Democrat? They voted for Clinton and Biden over Sanders and, well, Sanders, but they propelled Doug Jones to a AL Senate Seat in 2018. I won’t claim to know why they choose the more moderate candidates, at least recently, but they have. They’re far more fucking reliable for Democrats than us white guys, with far worse payout. Anyways, I’m cool with whoever they’re choosing. If they’re backing candidates like Platner, all six of them living in the snow next to Drew in Maine, I’m all fucking for it.

One more thing is the VPNMW is exactly the description of the white guy who is privileged enough to write an article in The Atlantic about how he’s voted four times in his life and Democrats left him, and why I am so enraged by someone posting like that, like it was a good thing. Fuck no. Asshole white dudes like that are exactly why candidates like Harris and Clinton lose. Fuck them.

Drew is definitely filling in that circle for his boo

I wish I could find my post when he first announced. This guy is a democrat in name only and there is more stuff to come out that is much worse. I truly do not understand how the powers that be thought he was even an average candidate.

Edit: one thing that is frustrating is the Democrats have like five really strong candidates running for governor. It’s a shame one or two weren’t in the Senate race. They obviously stayed out of the Senate race because of Mills.

He'll never give you up.
He'll never let you down.
He'll never run around and desert you.

Although he hasn't been seen since the beginning of March...

Typical Dems. They ratfucked themselves for someone who should be retiring and passing the torch. Biden 2.0.

I would have preferred Troy Jackson to run, but no established politician wanted to challenge Susie, especially with an open seat in the Blaine House. Mills didn't want to run but was dragged into the race by Chuck Schumer et al. The party didn't rally around David Costello in 2024 when he was the Democratic nominee for Senate, with proven Democratic bona fides, and it wasn't going to rally around him now. So Platner it is.

Vote Blue No Matter Who, right?

Right?

Oh wait. The party didn't VBNMW in 2024, because that would have meant supporting a Progressive instead of a Centrist. Same in 2018. Silly me.

From David Sirota.

"Look, I'll confess that perhaps I may very, very occasionally sorta kinda judge close friends/family on how I see them behave in their marriages. That's natural. We all probably do it. But I do not judge politicians that way, because — unlike the worshipful and idiotic fan culture that’s grown up around politics - I don’t pretend politicians are my friends or family, I don’t have a parasocial relationship with them, and I don’t arrogantly presume to know the details of what is happening inside their private marital relationships.

FDR, JFK & LBJ enacted some great policies & they didn't exactly have, uh, great marriages…to say the least.

So here’s a tip: get a friggin’ life and stop needing to have parasocial relationships with politicians (or any other kind of celebrity). It’s not healthy. It’s actually kinda stupid and sad (as well as absurdly presumptuous in pretending you know literally anything about their marriages).

They’re not your friends. They’re not your family. They are instruments of power. Nothing more."

FDR and Eleanor weren't so much lovers as they were third cousins with a fondness for and sense of duty to keeping the Roosevelt fortune in the family. Jackie was but an armpiece and she always knew it. Bill & Hillary both loved power more than anything and Hillary was the true brains behind the Clinton machine.
