They got a waiver yet they referenced all 24 sports? Huh.BU announced this morning they are opting into the House settlement. It doesn't say how they got around the Patriot League issue but presumably they got a waiver. But good news here.
They got a waiver yet they referenced all 24 sports? Huh.
This analysis focused on ensuring Boston University Athletics is appropriately positioned for sustained competitive strength and operational stability for short- and long-term success across all 24 varsity sports.
But it IS now an issue. BU can say it’s for hockey until the cows come home….but that isn’t going to change what the rest of the Patriot League all-sport members think. The Patriot League can’t kick them out….or really do anything about it. BU would no doubt file a lawsuit if the Patriot somehow tried to scuttle this or punish BU.A college cannot opt in for a single sport. It is either all or nothing. If they could have opted in for just hockey, the Patriot League wouldn't be an issue.
I don’t think that is true….. particularly where the Patriot league does not have hockey.A college cannot opt in for a single sport. It is either all or nothing. If they could have opted in for just hockey, the Patriot League wouldn't be an issue.

Question No. A4: Can an institution opt in to the settlement on a team-by-team basis?
Answer: No. For Participating Institutions, the terms of the settlement apply to all NCAA
sponsored programs at an institution and may not apply on a team-by-team basis. Multidivisional
institutions that sponsor a Division I sport may opt in for its Division I sport(s).
the word is on Sascha was more he was encouraged to leave. ive even heard the word "cut" but that might just be a crude way of saying it. at the very least, there appears to be a bigger issue than just the bad year. while people talk about the transfer portal being all about players chasing money, reportedly a lot of players in the portal this year were essentially cut from their team.- Sascha had a tough year but I would have liked to see him back to try to work it out. Remember he was a very young freshman, came in a year earlier than planned. But I'm also bummed because that likely hurts our chances of getting his brother, who seems on track to a be a high level player himself.
- If Schairer is indeed not coming this season as someone mentioned - that will be another sign that the USNTDP has really taken a step back. We saw how Murtagh and Tretheway struggled to adjust and they were among the better players on the roster. I wish they were still turning out the best players but I think the CHL has already eclipsed them the USNTDP as the primary source of the best players.
- Speaking of USNTDP guys that struggled out of the gates, any word on Amico? Muskegon has had a nice season, I hope he is ready to come back and give it another crack. His size could go a long way.
- Finally, I was in Vegas, and had faith that DU would pull it out. My first ever sports bet was on them winning at +300 (before the semis), so I was pretty happy when they did!!
Although you never want to lose a projected first round pick. I credit BU for holding firm and not bringing him in just to appease him.i have good news and bad news on some 2026 draft prospects.
bad news: Egor Shilov has flipped to Penn State so he comes in this season
good news: Xavier Villeneuve commit is official
